The Final Four trip was just what LSU Basketball needed to get national recognition in the eyes of RECRUITS. It's had to recruit good talent out of state when your program has nothing to show. Look at all the recruiting news coming out now. Players are interested in LSU because they have a chance of winning a championship. The Duke victory also helped in that cause....

These next few years have the potential to be special. Hopefully we can make some more noise so we stay in the upper tiers of teams in college basketball

Yeah we definitely have the potential. I mean if 4 of our starters last year were from Baton Rouge alone, then you know talent will not a problem. I really do think Brady has improved as a coach. When you look at last season, we lost 5 OOC games by i believe 11 points total, to some quality teams. The tough OOC scheduling seems to be preparing our team better for the conference play and ncaa tournament. Our only bad losses really were to the National Champs Florida. And we have a very dedicated team, very hungry. You look at Tyrus last year, spent a crap load time in the weight room and practicing and look how that paid off, Big Baby has been workin his butt of the last 2 summers trying to lose weight to help the team. Things are lookin good.

I worry if the tough non conference schedule will catch up to us....but this team has a lot of talen and I am really excited to see them play, and even more excited to see us take down florida.

Anybody know how on earth Billy Donovan managed to talk ALL 5 of his starters into staying at UF, especially given how difficult it's been in recent years to keep young talent from going pro? I understand that athletes have to do what they believe is in their best interests, and no disrespect to Tyrus Thomas, but he couldn't jump to the NBA fast enough after his performance in the NCAA tournament.

good thing the ncaa takes into account the strength of schedule more than the bcs

I'm not. Unlike football where one loss can end your NC dreams, tough bball OOC games gets you ready for the conference schedule. I really think that helped us last year.

All the top bball teams play a difficult OOC schedule. It will make you a better team in the long run.

    Couldn't agree more. :thumb:

We played tough AT tOSU and UConn last year, and IMO it gave us a lot of confidence when we got into the tourney.

An added plus is it gives us more national exposure, especially if the games are nationally televised...
