thats correct but don't expect another Skip Bertman to coach anywheres for a long time. The reason the guy was so great was b/c his winning and dominant ways were VERY RARE...not an everyday thing. Get used to us having a young coach.... oh, and by the way...give me a college lineup that does have the hitters that we had back then?
So one of our best pitchers gets to go up against the best pitcher in the conference. I like it. Best against best. I hope it is a low scoring pitchers' duel.
haha i dont care what type of game it is....as long as we come out with the W!:geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
Never said anything about the age of our coach.... But in terms of college lineups, well, I understand that there was a change in the rules reguarding bat specifications. SOOooo, I would assume that it has altered the HR total, but consider Cal State Fullerton. They have SEVEN players batting .300 or better with a minimum of 110 AB's... But to hell with Cal State! I would like for the players that we have/get/recruit to be a little more consistant at the dish. I was just saying that you don't need "mashers" like we had, or like Rice had when Berkman was there. You can hit only 38 HR's as a team, yet still rank high in batting average. We just don't have the patient hitters that we used to. But those types of guys are still out there. Other teams have them....
upset wednesday. ACC: No. 6 NC State Upsets No. 3 Miami, 2-1 Big 12: No. 6 Cowboys Pound No. 3 Texas, 10-4 Big 10 #5 Ohio State 7, #4 Michigan vs. 3 (13 innings) LSU loses to Moo U Tenn loses to SC Baylor beat KU 2-1 in 10 but their ace McCormick took a ball off his right hand on the 10th pitch of the game and had to be removed. if this is serious then this will be a huge factor.
About not having the same amount of All-American caliber players as LSU had in the Skip Bertman era. That is not Smokes fault Title IX has hurt college baseball the most. To the point that no one or at least almost no one (maybe a few exceptions but very few) in college baseball even has a full Scholarship. Because you do not have as many scholarships alot of players that would go to LSU cant get even a partial scholarship and therefore go somewhere that they will get at least some money. This is why you have a few dominate batters and a few dominate pitchers then the rest are average at best.
We don't have enough cajun boys in the line up. We need to recruit guys with x's in their name. Then we need to throw in a Barbier for good measure. I want to see Johnny Thibodeaux's, Mike Fontenot's, Blair Barbier's, and Ryan Theriot's. We have a Pontiff (pronounced pon teef)who will hopefully develop. That's a great start.
