With all of the love going around for Mike Shula today, I'd like to point out that Shula has been joked about for his entire tenure about not being ready for a big-time coaching job like he has at Bama. That sounds really familiar. Flame away, but I'm tired of the coaching gripes on this board.
Shirley, you jest :hihi: Auburn owns Bama this decade, and one game does not impress me enough to believe that Bama is better than either LSU or Auburn at this juncture. There's alot of football yet to be played
What the Bama win over Florida and the Auburn slamming of South Carolina indictates is that the SEC West is very much an open race. LSU was my clear favorite, but LSU can only guarantee both Auburn and Alabama just a one loss SEC record. And LSU still has to play Florida and Meyer who are looking at having their backs to the wall if Georgia beats Tennessee. The most ironic part of all of this is that Shula has soundly defeated both Meyer and Spurrier by a combined score of 68 to 17. When I saw Don Shula being interviewed yesterday it crossed my mind as to how much time the ol' boy spent looking over the Alabama vs. Florida game plans.
I still believe the 3 best D's in the SEC are all in the West. It's clear that Meyer's system hasn't transitioned well and teams with strong defenses, like LSU's, will have their way with the Gators. Two bigs games are likely to shape the final outcomes on both sides of the conference ..... UT-UGA and AU-LSU. After UGA and LSU both spank UF, the Bama win won't be as impressive as it for all of us right now. Bama deserves a ton of credit, but they are the first of several teams that will expose UF's weaknesses this season, and that has been my consistent opinion since the spring.
All of your posts the last few days have sounded like you just refuse to believe that Bama has a legit shot at whippin your ass this year.
