2. Let x + 29 1/2 = Bama’s score
3. Therefore x + x + 29 1/2 = 66 1/2
4. 2x + 29 1/2 = 66 1/2
5. 2x = 37
6. x = 18 1/2 = LSU’s projected score
7. x + 29 1/2 = 18 1/2 + 29 1/2 = 48 = Alabama’s protected score
