I understand. Those of us who sat through four years of Curley Hallman losing seasons in the 90's have been forever cured of undue optimism, false pride, and unrealistic expectations.
I expect Bama to win the :crystal: every year now that Saban is there. I'm also worried that our most talented players will transfer to Bama, now that Saban is there. My biggest fear is that Coach Miles will be offered the O-Line coach job at Bama, now that Saban is there . . . I'm worried that he might take the job. Finally, have we sent the :crystal: to Saban's office yet? It's really his trophy, after all, and, it's only fair that we give it back to the rightful owner. Of course, it would be nice if Saban let us keep this one, because, we all know that he will be winning these things every year now that Saban is at Bama.
Not to mention Russell, Landry, Bowe and Davis should send him a piece of their signing bonuses, and Addai should send him his superbowl ring...After all, he recruited them, you know...
I've been looking for info on Craig but haven't heard back from anyone as of last night. Not surprised though...it is the weekend and most are in transit, if not already in T-town for the B-ball game today. One note of interest, perhaps more so to the LSU contingent, is Rob Sale who played on the OL under Saban at LSU has left his position at Catholic-Point Coupee in New Roads to work at Bama, under Saban, as a football intern.
Big Rob Sale was supposed to be all-everything as an offensive lineman at LSU but when he got his shot, he underperformed badly and later that year just quit football altogether. He probably knows football well, but he just didn't have the constitution to stick it out as a player.
I hope he has more constitution as a coach cause I sure see that as a red flag if he's going to work with Saban. Good ingredient for disaster. Actually, I don't care but still and all.
I found this on the CBSsports website under the Dodds and Ends column. Terry what is your opinion on this? Nick Saban isn't exactly making media friends in Alabama, but really, what reason does he have to trust us? After being burned by that Miami Herald reporter who revealed an off-the-record, off-color story, Saban should be as skeptical as ever. Thing is, Alabamans can't get enough about their Tide. Saban typically makes all his assistant coaches off limits to media, which may have hurt him as he tried to assemble a staff. (Why go there, a young up-and-comer might surmise, if he can't be seen and heard on his way up the ladder?) Media are hoping to come to some sort of compromise. There is talk that Saban might make his coordinators available. If this is true, to me it seems like the pressure of the media is starting to take its toll on Saban. Saban would never back away from that stance at LSU because he is a control freak. Terry, have you heard this rumor to be true? Article here: http://www.sportsline.com/columns/weblogs/entry/9968515
I think Red has hit the nail on the head with this post. This is pretty much the way I see it going. Next season, it will be LSU, UGA, Fla., Tenn., Auburn, and Arky battling it out, in a BIG battle to get to Atlanta. SC may get in the mix. I don't look for Bama to challenge next season, but they probably will the following season. That SEC is sure going to be tough. I don't think anyone will dominate year in and year out for the next 4 years unless something new happens. satan only gets Bama back to even with the upper tier, IMO.
