Bama is talented no doubt but they're young and they lack depth. We're getting them late in the season. I think that's where LSU's depth will shine.

I don't think anybody is going to mistake JPW for Peyton Manning. The staff has correctly identified the strength of our offense and the strengths and weaknesses of our qb and have game planned accordingly. JPW is not being asked to carry the team or single handedly win ball games. He's being asked to make good decisions and not make the big mistake. There's enough offensive talent around him to win ball games with this approach. JPW is a streaky qb and when he gets in a rythmn can be very deadly on intermediate passes. But Nick and staff will certainly not center a game plan around this aspect of his game. If they see in the course of a game that he's got a hot hand then they'll go to it but odds are he'll be asked to manage the game and let the OL and RB's set everything else up.

I wouldn't say we have no depth. We have very good depth on the DL, WR, RB and secondary. Our offensive line is quickly developing depth with several games of being able to play the young backups.

I still think we drop three or four games this season. We're playing too many freshmen not to. But (knock on wood) we've yet to have games where they just go numb between the ears and it cost us a "W". But for anybody to chalk up our performances to what the other team didn't do rather than what we did do is choosing to not see the obvious. Bama is a much better team and is continuing to get better.

LSU is STILL the best team in the SEC until someone knocks them off the hill. But I do see the gap between them and two teams in the west quickly closing in Bama and Ole Miss.

    I agree with this wholeheartedly!

Ole Miss has looked BEAST at moments, but without trying to beat a dead horse... He is winning with Ogeron's players!

But you know as well as I do that Nutt can put together a great OL and running games which always puts a team in a position to win games. Maybe Nutt returns to his same pattern as he had at Arky with not being to get enough out of the passing game to win consistently. The next two or three years should tell us that. But for this year he's got a dangerous team.

Nutt has an offensive philosophy that gives us fits. I think all of our SEC games will be tough but I don't think we'll get down for the likes of Fla, Ga, and Bama. Ole Miss could fly under the radar and bite us, though.

The team that wins out over the hard stretch here (whether it's LSU, Bama, Georgia or Florida) will be the one that stays focused, goes after it and doesn't make mistakes. Mental prep will be the most important thing for each of these teams. And I don't know who's going to do the best job of it. It's clear Saban's worried about it, though.

    All the best,
    X
