I agree. I am tired of defending how many we have. It is sad that fans from other teams put so much time into trying to prove that we have less. Move on, we have a lot thats great I just hope there is more in our future. If yall want to say 6 or 7 okay, its still a lot more than a whole lot of other teams. Anyway I am going to try not to reply to anymore posts about it. ITS OLD WE HAVE A LOT GET OVER IT.

We can have it both ways. If you count NCAA modern era titles, Bama has 6 NCAA championships and LSU has 1. If you count mythical national titles before 1936, Bama has 6 more and LSU has 2 more.

Anyway you count it, Bama has more championships in the 20th century than anybody and should be damn proud of it.

Of course, none of that means a damn in the 21st century in which Bama has no championships of any kind. Yet.

My year might be off but if I'm correct I will settle the 78 NC. Was it 1978 that LSU lost to Bama 3-0 and USC 17-12? Here is a common opponent played on the same field. USC beat LSU by two more points and also beat Bama. USC the true NC. Forgetting Bama's claim, even if the year is off look at this. LSU tied #1 Nebraska 6-6, Lost to #1 Bama 3-0, Lost to #1 USC 17-12 all in the same season. This was either 78 or 79.

    Sheesh

I must be one of the few LSU fans who doesn't have a problem with Alabama's 1978 National Championship claim. We all know how the polls work; you lose early in the year and you have a better chance of climbing back toward the top than you do if you lose late. Bama lost to USC early. USC lost late. By season's end, Bama was ranked 2nd in the nation behind Penn State and then beat them in the Sugar Bowl. The #2 ranked team in the nation beat the #1 ranked team in the nation. To me, that spells National Championship. Whether USC beat them early in the year is a moot point. There were no BCS ratings back then. All they had to go by were the polls. Again, #2 Alabama beat #1 Penn State in the Sugar Bowl. Alabama deservedly won the National Championship.

Arguing this point borders on lunacy.

If we claimed 4, do you think Bama fans would put up a stink?

Better yet, if we claimed to have 13 (one more than they claim) how would that go over with them? I tend to think they'd be doing the same thing we do.

Sounds pretty simple to me. Team A and Team B have the same record. Team A beat Team B head to head. Team A is the champion. Any other conclusion is spin.
