This will be the toughest test the Tigers have faced yet. I am anxious to see how they do. I sweep would be great, but not that may be too much to hope for.

The all-time series between LSU and Kansas is tied 3-3... all six games were in the Box.

In 2003, they swept LSU in the Box -- 9-6 (10 innings), 6-4, 9-7 (7 innings). That LSU team finished 45-22-1, and 7th in the CWS.

In 1990, LSU swept them in the Box (10-1, 9-3, 8-2). That LSU team finished 54-19, and 3rd in the CWS.

Kansas swept Texas last season (5-4, 4-3, 4-3), and that Texas team finished #2 in the CWS.

Kansas coach Ritch Price in his 8th season as the Jayhawk coach, and in his 28th season as a collegiate head coach (his career record is currently 752-599-2). This is how Kansas has done under him as their coach:

    2010: 9-3 so far
    2009: 39-24 (61.9%) -- 2nd Place, Chapel Hill Regional
    2008: 30-27 (52.6%)
    2007: 28-30 (48.3%)
    2006: 43-25 (63.2%) -- 3rd Place, Corvallis Regional
    2005: 36-28 (56.3%)
    2004: 31-31 (50.0%)
    2003: 35-28 (55.6%) -- swept LSU in the Box

Ha ha...nice article. Maybe he should write about the number of years Kansas has been given an easy path to the Final Four. I guess there are a lot of Big 12 fans who hate the SEC for a large number of reasons...or should I say for a large number of National Championships that are in display cases at SEC schools.

    LSU was est. 1860
    Kansas was est. 1865

Kansas' most famous alum is Bob Dole, who represented Kansas in the US Congress from '61 to '69 as a US Congressman, and '69 to '96 as a US Senator.

Among Kansas' other interesting alums include billionaire Philip Anschutz (has all kinds of business interests, including a lot of involvement in owning professional sports teams), David Dillon (current CEO of Kroger, his great-grandfather started their original grocery store in Kansas), and Alan Mulally (current CEO of Ford Motor Company).
