I sure didn't read that first line about the 2nd contract. My mistake.

If he comes back next year, this will easily be the most loaded and fearsome LSU team since Shaq-Stanley-CJ in 1989-90...possibly even more so. Possibly the single most talent-laden LSU squad ever. This will be a team that has an excellent shot at making it deep into the NCAA's...with Brandon Bass leading the way. More games in the tourney with BB at the forefront = more national exposure. A greater likelihood that a specific NBA team WILL fall in love w/ his individual skills.

Doubtless Brady is attempting to sell him this way right now. Hopefully he succeeds.

What may help him the most if he does come back next year is that the draft will probably have many less players similar to him in it due to so many declaring this year becasue of the possibility of the age limitations being put into place. So even if he wouldn't improve his game, which I find unlikely, he could still improve his position a lot. Many of these guys declaring are freshmen and sophormores.

Not necessarily. I heard that there was something like 50 underclassman who have declared for this draft because of the looming age rule.

Next year there may be zero underclassmen in the draft. It doesn't take a genius to see how that could affect his draft position.

    That's what I'm talking about!

If he goes, he'll join the big @ss crowd this year...

And if he goes, I hope he does well...

Does anyone know of a scheduled press conference tomorrow?

I hate that we were basing this latest info on something that Andy Katz wrote. The dude is a good writer and generally doesn't make too many dumb statements but I would think that a local writer would have more contacts with people 'in the know' and would be on top of a situation like Bass leaning towards entering the draft.

And I don't think the NBA will end up enacting an age limit, so there will be underclassmen in next years draft too.

One other thing, every contract in the NBA is guaranteed. It's just that the first round picks are guaranteed to be offered a contract as a condition of them being drafted in the first round. If a player was drafted in the second round and played well enough in the summer leagues and training camp to be offered a 2 or 3 year deal by the team, it would be a guaranteed contract.

It's just that 2nd round picks have a pretty tough time making the team on more than a 1 year or 10 day contract. Dupree was undrafted and played through a series of 10 day contracts with the Bulls and signed a 2 year free agent deal with the Pistons.

Basically, if Bass can cut it in the NBA, he'll be in the league. If he can't, then he'll be somewhere like the NBDL or overseas.

There are about 70 underclassmen who have declared. That spells trouble for Bass' 1st round chances.

I may be being unfair, but I can't help thinking Reado's hand is halfway down Brandon's pocket already.

bass has to have an insurance policy, right? so the most likely reason he would leave is he's impatient and stupid (unfortuneatly not too uncommon among 20-yr olds).
