I am a Gator fan and I will be going to Baton Rouge for the game along with my wife and kids (ages 9, 12, 15). We arrive Friday and would like suggestions for a good restaurant for some local cuisine and flavor. Any ideas? This is my first time to Baton Rouge and I am looking forward to it. Thank you.

The Chimes is a good restaurant right on the NE corner of campus on Highland. But I would'nt go there late at night with the kids - it becomes more of a bar. It should be OK until 9:00 or so.

Mike Andersons south of campus is family freindly and has good seafood. Go south down Nicholson (main road from campus next to stadium) past campus to 2nd light. Turn left on Lee.

Also on Highland down from the Chimes is the Silvermoon Cafe. It is good southern "soul food" - way too big helpings of smothered pork chops, greens, cornbread, etc.

TJ Ribs on S. Acadian for the best BBQ ribs you've ever eaten.

A note about Parrain's. It is owned by the same people that own The Chimes. The food at both places is terrific.
