I get the feeling, the way the BCS is shifting with big wins, that if the Hogs beat UF, that they could MAYBE jump us, locking us out of that precious automatic spot. islstl?

I don't see that happening. Lots of ground to make up and we just beat them at home. I don't think that is in play. Of course, I could be wrong.

Correct me if I am incorrect: if the #3 team happens to be a non conference champ like UM (with USC winning against UCLA), then #4 doesn't get the automatic bid. LSU would need the Rose Bowl to pick them over ND.

no way, voters will remember the LSU victory over Arkansas when placing their final ballot and most if not all would not place Arkansas in front of LSU

correct, Michigan would be taking advantage of the rule, therefore prohibiting LSU to take advantage of the rule (only team allowed to get in automatically in this manner).

    Go Bruins!

I thought the same thing, but I went check the rules and LSU can't get the automatic at-large bid. Michigan gets it at #3. #4 get's it only if there isn't an at-large team at #3. That's why Texas pleaded their case in 2004 to jump Cal who was at #4 so they could get the Rose spot. USC & Oklahoma were #1 & #2. Auburn was #3 but they were the SEC representative. So the #4 spot works only if #3 is not an at large choice. After that there are no locks except for the special treatment for Notre Dame (top 8) & the non-BCS team(top 12).

Not sure if u meant to quote the reply I had made. The scenario I spoke of had USC losing and Michigan at #2, which makes LSU getting to #4 relevant to the automatic at-large bid. The issue at hand was whether Florida losing in that instance had any impact.

When it comes to that, would the football nation prefer a UM - LSU matchup versus a rematch between UM and ND, with ND recently losing big to USC???
Wearing purple and yellow glasses, it is obvious that UM -LSU is more exciting and refreshing, matching two powehouses that never met; it should drive the Rose Bowl ratings higher!

You're right. My mistake. If Michigan plays OSU. USC is #3 (PAC-10 representative), then LSU at #4 would be automatic.
