Watching the "experts" squirm is awesome. Hopefully a lot of the influence from the talking heads will be gone once the playoffs are in place. Then it's get in and prove it, the way it should be. Just to bad it isn't a 10-12 team playoff yet, that would make this fun.
As it should be. I would say a team like South Carolina could make some teams uncomfortable to play against in the playoff.
Michigan put up over 600 yards of offense on Ohio State today. Michigan has had trouble getting past midfield the entire month of November. Ohio State is NOT a team that deserves to be in the title game.
Speaking of playoffs, is the plan to continue w/conference championship games once we have the playoffs? That seems unnecessary now. If your regular season record gets you into the playoffs, why have an extra, demanding, battle of a game prior to national playoffs, or are those games designed to be springboards into the playoffs? And, if that's the case, why have polls? Agree, design should have 8 teams, not 4.
Championship games aren't going away; champion gets a boost from winning and there is a ton of money to be made. Agree that 8 is better than 4 (usually the number of deserving teams is between 4-8), but the selection committee is pretty troubling to me.
The only thing I don't like about the playoff system is that it takes away partial meaning of a game like the Iron Bowl. As it is, Bama is eliminated. If the playeoff were this year, then I'm sure they would be 1 of the 4 teams chosen, so they could still win it all, despite how yesterday's game ended. Plus, it takes away part of the excitement from the game yesterday. All Bama would say is 'Ok, you won this game on a fluke, but you still have to beat us again if you want to be champions.' I don't like that. It's how we got fcuked in '11.
