1. Another precedent to the LSU/Bama rematch is from 1996.

Florida State beat Florida in the regular season on the 2nd to last weekend.

Florida ended up #2 in the BCS and played an undefeated FSU again and trounced them 52-20.

  3. Huh, this one's a really hard sell.

Would have to see that in print.

enough evidence. I mean we are talking about sell out saban here.

  5. Don't know how true it is but it's spreading. I just read this same thing while lurking on one of OK ST's forums.

  6. Ideally, but the whole selling point of the BCS - we will make sure the two best teams are matched up when all is said and done - came from the premise that the Bowl system rarely gave us that matchup. And it was needed because, with 120-odd teams in D-I, the top two rarely play each other in the regular season either. Not the case this year.

The other selling point the pro-BCS people tout - as opposed to a playoff - is that the whole season becomes a playoff, with every week in some way determining those top two, rather than a top 8 or 16 if we had a playoff. Following that line of thinking, a rematch would be like saying the first game didn't mean anything. What the system should be saying is that only if there is no other worthy contender to face clearly number 1 LSU should we set up a rematch. Bama had its chance. A one-loss Bama is not better than a one-loss Okie St or one-loss VaTech if we already know they lost to number one.

    Does that make sense?
  7. Yes--and thanks. But my head still hurts!
  8. Found this on another forum. Don't tell me if this was LSU's resume compared to Bama's, that you wouldn't be super pissed.
