Well let's see for it to happen we need USC to lose...I'll give that a 2% shot of happening in the regular season...Texas to lose, Aggie sucks, and they handed Colorado their asses earlier this season and will almost certainly do it again in the Big 12 Champ. game...Va. Tech to lose, best chance of that happening is either this week which will keep Miami ranked above us, or in the ACC Champ. game vs. Florida State who could also possibly jump us if they were to win out due to computer rankings not being helped at all with games against Miss. State, North Texas, or App. State, nor Ole Miss, or Arkansas....We still have to beat Alabama at Tuscaloosa which I believe we will do and beat either UGA or Florida (again) in the SEC Champ. game while not slipping up in Oxford for this to even be made an issue.
I believe I heard somewhere that it would be a possible Texas/Va Tech Rose Bowl if they both win out and UCLA loses a game or two in between now and their game with USC... How funny would that be?
You feel like you are being informative? Pretty much all of what you said is common knowledge. Although I don't believe Texas needs to lose. USC, UCLA, Va Tech, yes.
I absolutely care. Until the BCS isn't the ranking to determine the national championship I'm going to root for us to get as high as possible, even if it isn't the top 2.
Someone said that would be possible without a USC loss? I'd like to have some of what their smoking. For that to be even remotely possible, you would have to have several human voters go against near a century of history and suddenly start switching first place votes from USC not only to Texas, but to Virginia Tech as well. On top of that, I don't think the computers would drop USC far enough for it to happen. I don't see USC finishing any lower than 3rd in ANY computer at the end of the regular season if they don't lose. That just won't be enough to get the job done.
I'll take a hit from the pipe too, and I'll dream we'll get to Pasadena but I'm a cynic and a pessimist and it's not going to happen.
Actually, cgisclair is right, but maybe for the wrong reason. LSU is currently 17th in Sagarin, 16th in Wolfe, and 15th in Massey.
