There isn't anything positive, its all negative if the loser of the
    SECCG gets a lesser bowl.

Everyone's talking about the Peach bowl???
    C"MON

I have nothing against the Peach, its just that isn't right.

What was our record when we played there last time?

The possibility of us going to the peach bowl has little to do with the BCS though. It has more to do with the facts that bowls select their teams as soon as they can, for money and ticket reasons...

Remember '97. Nebraska and Michigan were the 2 best teams, but we couldn't get them together in the bowls. They both won and we had a split NC. I think we are light years ahead of that.

It might not have much to do with the BCS, but I'll tell you what.

As much as I love College Football, it is the most SCREWED UP
sport there is when it comes to the end of the season.

ANY OTHER SPORT has a PLAYOFF SYSTEM and yet the people
who run the college football system are still living in the
    18th CENTURY!
    :(

Agreed the BCS is much better than the old system of the pollsters deciding it. How screwed up was that system and the 97 season like you alluded to.

My prediction is that a 4-team playoff system will be in place by 2006 and it will use the BCS system to decide the teams involved.
I say you use 8, but they will never do that since that would extend the season by 2 weeks. The 2 semi-final games play in 2 of the current 4 BCS Bowls, and the championship plays in one of the other 2. The 4th BCS bowl would choose 2 at-large teams to play. The 4th bowl (odd man out) would be rotated around. The National Championship bowl would be rotated as well. The season would only be extended to January 8th (semi-finals play on New Years Day).

It keeps 2 loss teams from winning NC's and that is important. It's been more than 40 years since a college football team has won a NC with two losses. College football is different, b/c 117 teams are competing. Everyone can't play everybody else, so polls are an important factor in determining who playing outstanding football and who is walking through an easy schedule.

No system is perfect, not even a playoff. The face of college football will completely change when 2, 3, and 4 loss teams start winning NCs through a playoff format. I just feel a playoff format undermines an undefeated season, and will take too much away from the playoff like situations week get in Aug, Sept, and Oct.

There are just too many changes that need to be made, but like everything else it is a work in progress. The BCS gives us a number 1 and 2 match up.
