First off, this wasn't really BB material. The sportswriter, as they tend to do, was clearly trying to spin this into a smack talk thing. Knowing beanie, there was no disrespect intended, and IMO this isn't as bad as byrd saying that washington "don't bring nothin". In either case, I don't think motivation is an issue for either team, so another needle on the haystack isn't going to make much of a difference. LSU is going to come out and attempt ;) to prove that injuries were responsible for the scoring that happened this year.

As for the success of the Buckeye Rushing game, I do think (hope) that Tressel doesn't give up on it early. There have been times(every time we have lost in the last few years) where he randomly gets very out of charachter, and leaves buckeye fans scratching our heads on the playcalling. (The same can be said for Jim Heacock's defensive playcalling--4th quarter v. ILL)

The buckeye O Line also has something to prove after last year, and make no mistake about it---Chris wells isn't RunDMC, but is an absolute BEAST. At 6-2, 240, and a 4.5 40, he will get his yards. He was seriously banged up all year, with a broken hand, a mildly gimpy knee at one point, and floating bone chips in his ankle all year, which will likely require surgery after the season.

I'm very excited to see what our boys are made of, and there's no doubt in my mind that to do so, you have to play the best, which we are.

    Is is Jan. 7th yet?

For the first 10 games our opponents rushed for an average of 2.0 yards per carry. In all 13 games they rushed for an average of 3.1 yards per carry. Not exactly a soft rush defense.

Thanks for clearing that up Bengalbuddy.

LSU - first 10 games - opponents gained 660 yards - an avg of 2.0 per carry

LSU - their 3 most recent games - opponents gained 798 yards - an avg of 6.2 per carry

huh? please clarify what you're referring to, that was a long post. If you're saying I shouldn't be on this thread b/c I don't think it was BB material, are you suggesting that you don't want opposing points of view to be expressed? Not sure I understand the logic there.

wells is better than any rb LSU has. in some ways he's better than any LSU has faced. dmac is great, but he's a homerun hitter, wells is a ball-control rb with homerun potential. and it is a ball-control O that gives ohst the best chance of winning.

i hope with a healthy dorsey and beckwith and with jean-francois that wells will be completely stuffed, but im guessing eventually their O will be able to make several sustained drives. if LSU's O struggles early, this will be the same old down-to-the-wire game that we've grown to love this season. if LSU's O is clicking early, its over, because ohst wont be able to keep up.

Oh you mean the defense that wasn't improving after being through one of the toughest SEC schedules I can recall. The one that OSU is thrilled that they didn't have to play? Notice there is a falloff after the Tigers got beat up, and after the cheap shot on Dorsey that could have very well ended his career. You mean "that" defense, the one thats coming into this game rested and healed? Thats a pretty good statement taking into consideration the majority of "cupcakes" OSU played this year. We'll see how unimproved the Tiger "D" is the 7th!

No one could run on us early on... Miss St and South Carolina's running backs couldn't even crack 30-40 yards and they're both pretty solid (Boyd and Dixon). Forte did decent, 73 yards on 16 carries. And then we struggled against Moore from Florida and the little known RB from Kentucky who got a decent amount of yards on us. Lester from Auburn had around 70 yards and we didn't do a great job of stopping him. Alabama sucks at life, we dominated their running backs. And then we struggled against Ole Miss's running quarterback and of course Arkansas. But we did a decent job against Tennessee.

So, the truth lies somewhere in the middle as is usually the case. We've stopped some very good running backs and then been gashed by others. I think Dorsey's injury had a decent amount to do with it, but we have the talent at DT to fill in for him. Beckwith's injury however, we just don't have the talent at LB to have someone of his caliber step in when he gets hurt.

I don't really think Wells was trying to disrespect LSU's D. I'd be a little angry if I was OSU because everyone is calling them slow and not giving them a real chance of winning, but that's what happens when you get blown out by an SEC team last year. The pressure is on them and I just think Wells is trying to rally his teammates a bit and letting people know he isn't scared of LSU, nothing wrong with that.
