It is Georgia's Sanford Stadium. When we play them, it's huge cause it's for the SEC Championship but they're not in our schedule rotation for regular season games. :thumb: The hedges have been there since the stadium's very first game against Yale in 1929. The idea to put hedges around the field came from the Business Manager of the UGA Athletic Department, Charlie Morton, who claimed to have "Received inspiration" for the idea during a visit to the Rose Bowl, where he saw the hedge of roses in that stadium. The climate in Georgia is not suited for roses, so he chose "Hedges". :thumb:
Re: Best 2007 New SEC Football Rivalries??? Seeing Spurrier characterized as classier than Saban on an LSU board is something we wouldn't have seen a couple of years ago. Time does change many things. :hihi:
Re: Best 2007 New SEC Football Rivalries??? yep, auburn and uga play every year (au is basically on the border with ga). bama plays ut.
Re: Best 2007 New SEC Football Rivalries??? That's great, I fell out of my chair laughing on that one! You're quite right!
Re: Best 2007 New SEC Football Rivalries??? 'Bama has not beat Georgia since 1995 under Stallings. And Saban will be lucky to not get blown out this year by Georgia. Meanwhile, the Georgia / Auburn rivalry is the oldest in the South going back to 1892 when they played in Piedmont Park in Atlanta.
