His majesty the king........ He is called the "Boudin King" because "Boubin God" offended too many people. His work is cherished by his loyal subjects. If you find yourself in Jennings (or Crowley) it is worth the stop. Even if you are just headed west on I-10 it is worth the 10 minute detour to grab a bite. For a real treat, order the gumbo with no rice and a link of spicy boudin then cut the boudin open and put the contents in the gumbo. HEAVEN!! Boudin King Restaurant - 906 West Division St. Two miles south of Jennings I-10 Exit 64. The "Boudin King" is Ellis Cormier. They are Closed on Sundays and major holidays. (318) 824-6593.
It's even hard to find Savio's up in Shreveport. And when you do find it, its the plain beef or pork sausage. My mom was making some Jambalaya and I wanted to put in some alligator sausage but had to settle for pork.
The best pizza in the world is at the Fleur de lis on Govenment street in Baton Rouge. I never had one from Pizza Village but from what the other people on this thread are saying about it I'd love to give it a try.
Two spots make my best Cracklin's list: The Exxon Quickstop in Barber Spur off Hwy 13 and Town and Country Grocery in Mamou.
No, cuz this is/was in Lafayette, not to far from I-10. I'll be home in the fall, so I might just have to take a spin out towards that way to see if it's still there. I think it was a Seafood Market, actually.
While we're on the subject of food, anyone ever try the smoked sausage from Robideaux's (the locals pronounce it RA-Bi-Doos) on Hwy 90 in Iowa, LA?
