One of the funniest and most tragic things I've ever seen was when Charlie Rich announced, on live TV, John Denver as Entertainer of the Year, then lit the announcement card and burned it. Funny, well, cause it just was. Tragic because Denver was obviously disrespected on national TV and Charlie Rich was blasted out of his mind (as he frequently was). So that I'm not accused of hijacking the subject... Best American/British Hybrid - Derek and the Dominos
Dunno about Super Troopers but it happened. Was pretty sad to see Rich in that shape. I guess it finally got to him as he did a wingover in a Hammond motel some years later and at last report, he's still dead.
Best Canadian band: The guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive( which obviously took Bachman from The Guess Who)
