BR is not in the top ten. Criteria seems to shift its focus from town to athletic success from one selection to another, so hard to tell if BR should be included or not. Best College Towns SI link
i heard on the radio in charlotte that baton rouge was 12th or something. they should be top ten if you consider that lsu carries the whole capital city. can you imagine what baton rouge would be like if lsu was not there. shreveport anyone?
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA THE SPOT: At The Swamp Restaurant, located two blocks from Florida Field, more than 200 cases of beer, 20 kegs, 15 cases of liquor and 1,500 burgers are consumed on a football game day. That's all they drink? At Cecilia's Alumni softball tournament this year, we drank over 200 cases of beer with alot less people and while we were playing softball.
#11 or #12 The BR advocate had them at 12 but the website I went to had them at 11th. I think our lack of playing a big team early and the press that goes with that hurt us this year in that poll. Our drubbing from Texas last year didn't hurt either. When we beat Tennesse in the SEC championship game and then beat the hell out of Illinois in the Sugar Bowl I believe we made the top 10 that year.
I think Syracuse is a damn cool town. Didn't get to spend much time there, but I liked it a lot. Have to agree with you about College Station, its depressing in my opinion...
Actually I've never been to Syracuse but I never thought of it as a party town. Boulder is great and Austin would be great too if there weren't so many damn Longhorns fans.
