I absolutely loved to watch that guy play. Man he could hit ! I played HS football against Chris "Aircraft" Carrier, liked him alot also.
Liffort Hobley and Clinton Burrell were fabulous defensive backs but took season-ending injuries that never let them perform at top speed for their junior and senior years. Mike Williams was LSU's first black All American at safety in 1973. Only Stoval and Casanova were in his league.
In my lifetime: Best cover corner: Corey Webster --his INT's and ballhawking skills dictate that he be mentioned. Biggest hitter: Anthony Marshall Best all-around: Greg Jackson
Chris Carrier Perhaps didn't have the cover skills of the others, but would plain knock your d**k in the dirt. I remember Rehage(sp?) as more of a special teams head hunter.
I have to go with #37 - Tommy Cassanova. He was a three time All-American and probably single-handedly cost Joe Theisman the Heisman. Also, he was playing for LSU when I fell in love with Fightin' Tiger football!
I forgot about him. He played for the Giants as a replacement player in '87. He was a total wild man. All over the field. I recall in particular some heavy hitting on kickoff coverages.
