I can't believe it! I forgot to include Jerry Garcia in the poll!

Jerry is the winner hand down!

...and to think that I used to be so proud of your musical opinions and intellect... :dis:

    Garcia, indeed...

    ...or maybe even John McLaughlin...

You could get run out of the bay area for dissing Garcia.

No, Jerry didn't hammer the blues riffs like Stevie Ray, Clapton, Page or Duane Allman or the rock and roll chords like Townsend or Eddie Van Halen. No, he wasn't flashy like Hendrix but I suggest that you put an hour or two of the Dead on your stereo and kick back and listen to the intricate guitar work of Jerry Garcia. Better yet if you have some videos watch his hands as he plays.

I voted other. Omar Rodriguez is the best guitarist I have ever heard. I do not think Jimi Hendrix belongs on that list. He was not a great guitarist. He stood on the soldiers of truly inventive guitarists and made a name. He was to guitar as Steven Hawking is to physics. Both much more highly regarded by outsiders than they are by insiders.

wow that was the most pretentious post i have seen in a long time.

thanks for telling us how the "insiders" of the physics and guitar communities feel. impressive that you have such extensive knowledge in those fields.

I can hardly wait for LSUSupaFan's book "The Physics of Rock 'n Roll" I'll even buy a copy if it comes with a free velvet picture of Elvis.
