    SEC Commish is already started planning and negotiating for an SEC Channel. We will have one in the not too distant future.

    If the Big 10 expanse, they will push ND very hard to be that team. ND schedule is year in and year out;

    Michigan
    Michigan St.
    Purdue

    and used to play Penn St. or Pitt near every year.

    At one time they also had Northwestern.

    If the Big 10 can't strong arm them into the conference than;

    Pitt is the clear favorite for the 12th team.

    Plan C would be:

    Syracuse

    If the BCS closes the ND loop hole; ND maybe forced to look at the Big 10.

    Rutgers plays small time ball and doesn't have the fan base for the Big 10 to look at close.

    Now if the Big 10 does get the 12th team, the PAC 10 will be forced to get two other teams:

    Top 4 real canidates:

    Bosie State
    Utah
    New Mexico
    Wyoming

    Dream canidates:
    Texas
    Colorado

    Larger market areas; both have been contacted before and said no.

    Two teams that would say now high do you want me to jump? to join:
    BYU
    Fresno State

    food for thought:

    Texas... Tennessee????

    I always thought the magic number for a conference would be 16... two eight team divisions with a championship.

    What's magic about 12.

    nothing.

    money... it's about money and controlling your fate.

    Having a 12th team means you can have a conference championship game:

    That is why number 12 is a magic number.

    Tennessee will never leave the SEC.

    Texas has already turned down the PAC 10, and wouldn't leave the Big 12 for the Big 10.

    Missouri, what is Mike DeCourcy smoking? They are like plan Z for the Big 10.

    Kentucky will not leave the SEC, they are the basketball power in the SEC; by joining the Big 10 they have to fight for the NCAA top sitting with the Big 10 powers. Gets more money in the SEC than they would get in the Big 10

    understood... doesn't make it magic... just makes the mind stop from seeing a bigger picture, imo... the evolution of the leagues in the early 90's and thereafter is just part of the on-going process... my guess is we will see a 16 team league in the near future.

    The Big 12 has not been the financial juggernaut it had hoped... compared to the Big Ten or SEC... it's final transformation is yet to come. If I was the SEC, I'd move immediately to add Texas, A&M, Oklahoma and Okie State. Two 8 team leagues... and who would argue about the conference's "toughness".

    Many at Texas A&M have posted they should have joined the SEC and not the Big 12.

    Texas is the problem, they dominate the Big 12 south with OU and know if the SEC went to a 14-16 team league they would be playing LSU, Bama, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas;

    which isn't Texas Tech, Baylor, OSU, KU, K. St.

    Texas makes more money staying in the Big 12 than joining the SEC, Pac 10 or Big 10. Its an easy road to Jan 1 bowl.

    Texas A&M doesn't like being in the same league with Texas and OU and wants the Big 12 to reset the north with OU and bring Colorado to the south.

    OU and OSU will not leave the Big 12.

    The SEC will only increase to 14 with FSU and A&M, which will never happen;
    as Bobby Bowden knows the ACC will allow FSU to win 2-3 more games a year over the SEC.

    To get to 16 means the Texas dream comes in line; along with FSU pipe dream. The other team would be Georgia Tech or Clemson, both have asked questions on joining the SEC.

    SEC 14:

    Clemson 65%
    Georgia Tech 68%
    Texas A&M 50%
    FSU 0%
    Texas 5% at best
    Miami 0%

    SEC 16

    The above plus these teams that would kill to be in the SEC:
    Louisville best of the rest canidates
    Southern Miss
    Tulane SEC would never take them back
    South Florida
    TCU 2nd best small canidate

    At 14 games a conference would lose most division games and at 16 it would lose all but 1 divisional game. So most conference will never go to a larger number than 12 (with its 5-3 split.)

    At 14 your looking at 6-2, leaving only 3-4 games out of conference.
    At 16 its 7-1.

    If you line up at 14 to a 6-3, your inter league play kills the conference's out of conference scheduling. You would not see many games like Auburn vs USC, Tennessee vs FSU, etc.

    Think about Florida at a 6-3 conference schedule and then having to play FSU and Miami.

    Or Ole Miss locked into Southern Miss, Georgia into Georgia Tech, it doesn't leave much room to put a rent a win on the schedule.

    The NCAA should have stepped in years ago to limit a conference to 10. The fans have lost out of the great inter conference game you used to see before 1993.

    The bottom line is when you add a Texas, OU etc your killing the conference win-loss record and your making a national power out of a mid range team they will start to dominate the conference the other team left.

    Big 10 should look at Cincy... Geographically, they make sense... Pac-10 will never go to 12... but if they did Boise St. and Hawaii or Utah would be the way to go...
