I think we end up getting current 3 star OT (may be OG? Rivals & Scout have 2 diff positions) Ole Miss commit Rishaw Johnson, who's from La.
Probably true. Offensive line, Defensive backs, Linebackers -- we have to get everyone we want here. There is a little slack everywhere else. But we'll need a top punter and kicker immediately.
He's not in the class of a Whitworth, Wilkerson, or Livings, which is what I meant by "good". We are not going to win any championships anytime soon until the OLine recruiting gets national in a hurry.
http://lsu.rivals.com/quicklist.asp?School=37&Sport=1&DPosition=14&Position=2&Year=2007&qs=1 I think it's unfortunate that LSU is not in on any but 1 4-star offensive tackle.
I'd like the 4 & 5 stars too and it is one indicator but that is based on what they did in high school: which program they were in (recognition), winning team, and there can be 2 & 3 star athletes who are very good and may have been 4 or 5 star in another program. I am far from the best knowledge as far as recruiting, but that's my understanding anyway. I'm sure others on this board can offer more about the rating system. I know Saban (and I'm sure Miles too) was good at recognizing talent and picked up some awesome 3* players. It's still early too... Florida State losing again last night, Miami in shambles, and if we can put the thomp on Fla. that could help us in recruiting. Fla. has a lot of talent in high school. Texas is the big one by sheer numbers- look at how big the state is and they support high school football. There are many high school fields with turf and stadiums as nice as McNeese's. I've been on them and they are unbelievable.
What?????? We're loaded with young talent at RB so much so that quality backs are transfering to other schools. What we need is an Oline that can open a hole for them.
"It all starts up front". I think we're ok with LB. We lose Highsmith, but Odom, Cutrera, Riley and Sheppard should all have solid careers. Definately good at WR with Doucet another season, LaFell, the Mitchell's, Ricky Dixon....plus our current WR commitments--we're good. We don't need this position to be our priority. We need to go after the position that ENABLES our skill players a chance to do something: THE O-LINE!
