There are miles between showing admiration for thugs like Putin and Duarte (or whatever his name is), wanting to imitate them by murdering opponents and actually carrying it out. There is no doubt Trump likes strong men and has no filter to understand the difference between strength and thuggish brutality. However he seems to use bluster and vague comparisons as sound bites rather than as an actual intent or policy. No matter what he says or feels the checks and balances in our system make me believe it's effectively impossible for him to actually do something like that. Can anyone imagine Mattis, Kellyor any other department leader allow that to happen? I really can't and truly believe if Trump were so foolish to order something he would immediately be ridden out of office and into jail or the looney bin.
