on a Chicago sports radio station. Sounds like a good guy and I had to laugh at this. They asked him if SLU had any plans to dump the directional school label like ULL. Of course, he said, no. he said ULL wanted to distiguish themselves as separate and somehow on a par with LSU, but that in Louisiana there was no such thing, and that they were going to keep it real.
But doesn't it say "Lafayette" in smaller print under it? I won't knock any state schools come Tourny time. Just like Bowl games, when I even pull for the likes of Florida  , 'Bama , and the rest of the SEC (and yes, even Auburn ), when it's March Madness, and the Louisiana schools are in it, I pull for all of them (and the SEC of course).
Also, no need to get angry. Let Louisiana-Monroe do that. We're above that crap. We're not threatened--at least I certainly don't feel threatened by it. Besides, just like when they were known as "USL", no one in the media rings consistantly called them that. They were always, "SWLA", "SW Louisiana", or "Southwestern Louisiana". ...and even now, no one refers to them as Louisiana. They're "UL-Lafayette", "Louisiana-Lafayette" or "ULL".
Man, why all the anger. They are who they are. The name doesn't change that. I could change my name to Elvis but I still can't sing.
It's the reason for the attempted name change. See Bill Kennedy's quote in the 1st post. The Elvis line was funny.
