Biloxi bacon

    Been craving some bacon lately so had take the bet and go get a box this morning. Didn't take to fill a 120qt bout 3/4s up. [​IMG]

    forgot to mention just about all of them were fat with white roe. Only a few had yellow roe which is good for us since we like the white roe better(though both are great) but its a little odd that is was so heavily white over yellow. And obviously "bet" should have said "net" in the OP.

    did you catch those in a cast net? Skimmer? Trawl?

    I have a 5 foot cast net. Is it a brill net?

    I think the brill nets have a smaller mesh. You may very well have a brill net.

    Nah cast and brill net very different. Cast net doesn't slide down making the basket. It's for smaller water where nets goes to the bottom and it makes its basket as the bottom gets pulled together by lifting the top. Brill net has a ring or horn at the top and slides down the lead lines creating its basket that way so it can be used in deeper water as it doesn't have to get to the bottom to make its basket. Size of net or size of mesh doesn't have anything to do with it. It's just how the net works.
