Was sitting on the porch yesterday afternoon watching the kids run around the yard and field. I been watching the blackberries but they were still red 2 days ago last I looked but noticed my little girl just sitting on the edge of the briar patch eating one after another. Grabbed 1.5 gallon pitcher and brought it to her to fill up gonna convert these into jelly this week. Still a TON of big bright red ones in the field might see if i can gather up enough of em to run a batch of wine. Need roughly 5 gallons for that.
Did up the blackberry jelly this afternoon. Came out 28.5 pints. Picked another half gallon after that boiling them to juice now for the wife to make a couple blackberry pies for tonight.
The wife made the actual pie. Kids picked the berries, I boiled em and squeezed em. Now the jelly I pretty much did all that except kids helped pick a lot of the berries. The wife usually helps out more but she was having to deal with the baby.
No, I said quite an interesting skill set for a manly man. You think Tarzan could bake a home-made blackberry pie?
Damn dude. How many berries did it take to make the 28.5 pints? Interesting thing...I am not that far from you and our berries aren't ready yet. Close though.
