    No government branch is efficient. In so many ways they are set up not to be efficient which can be as much of a good thing as a bad one. Even the fabled defense department isn't efficient. It is VERY GOOD at what it does thank the lord. However just by observing how it handles procurement, operations support, development etc you see so much waste that we spend much greater amount of $$ than an efficient business would.

    What you hope for is a government that is effective in doing the necessary thing to make a society run without a burdensome cost. How that is measured isn't easy and frankly does and should change as the environment changes. For example when we were at war...taxes should have been raised to pay for it when were are out of conflict taxes and spending should go down. Governments must always invest in education, infrastructure, defense and order.

    We can argue how much should be spent on what and how well governments are managed BUT to deny there is a need for most of the government functions we have in our modern society and to claim strict privatization would work better is fool's gold. That becomes either anarchy or oligarchy, neither of which is a good result.

    So I will continue to rail against President Obama and the D's in general and do believe they carry their ideas too far and are dangerous in their own way I don't believe the strict tea party mantra of less government is the best government is a path to glory.

    We need a better leadership that understands good sound judgment and a certain amount of risk taking is ok.One that honors its citizens' tax payments and doesn't waste or assume they are for political or personal gain. One that puts in place the tools necessary for the citizens to prosper and is also compassionate to the less fortunate but doesn't use them to create a constituency. One that strives to follow the dictates of the preamble to the Constitution. "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

    This cannot happen until and unless new political parties are allow to emerge, requiring the elimination of the electoral college and primary election system which is designed to prevent third parties from emerging. It will also take the elimination of lobbyists and special interests groups getting special access to the peoples representatives. Finally it will take serious campaign finance overhaul. As long as big business and ultra-wealthy fat cats can buy candidates and buy elections, we cannot reasonably expect the best leadership to emerge. All that will emerge will be the leaders that can be bought and cater best to their puppeteers. Our best and brightest generally avoid politics like the plague.

    This guy wants to talk about welfare, but he is using land that he doesnt own and screaming about people on welfare.

    I think the general consensus is that he is wrong and the issue is the excessive use of force for this dude.

    I'm not Sean Hannity. I meant for this forum. Most have explicitly said the guy should pay what he owes.

    Bundy is really starting to sound like a Montana Militia nut job as well as a white supremacist. Radical Mormons are waaaaay out there.
