They aren't the ones responsible for the border are they? If so, "No Chest, The hell with them"

It is just whoever you want to blame. It takes two sides not coming to terms to cause a shut down.

I don't think so in this case. Adding this fluff to a bill that would fund homeland security is a GOP thing in this instance.

Why is it that everytime someone points out something in particular the response is always.... Well the other side does this too.

Not in this case. This bill had pork added by the republicans, and they are holding homeland security hostage. The democrats hold no responsibility in this matter.

Have they added pork to other bills, yes but that's not what we are discussing here.

I would like to add that your original link was about nothing more than a public opinion poll, nothing to do with what's really going on. Not only that but....

"A new CNN/ORC International poll that shows that Congressional Republicans would shoulder much of the blame for a potential Department of Homeland Security shutdown conveniently omitted the Democrats as a possible answer.

The poll found that 53% of Americans would blame Republicans in Congress if the DHS is shut down, while 30% would blame President Obama. Thirteen percent would blame both Obama and the GOP.

It’s not unusual for Republicans to get the blame every time there is a government shutdown or a threat of a government shutdown, but in this case respondents weren’t told that the Republican-led House had already passed a spending bill, and that Senate Democrats have blocked attempts to pass a bill mainly over the provision to reverse Obama’s executive orders on immigration."

Immigration doesn't belong in that bill.

Democrats are using the whole "terrorist threat" to blame Republicans but it isn't accurate. Border Patrol agents stay on the job, airport security workers will still be at their posts, the Coast Guard stays on patrol -- and those East Coast ports remain open because they are all considered essential workers. I want to know what the 30,000 potential furloughed workers do. Anyone?

Lawmakers on both sides shouldn't be skirting off for holiday without a budget. They should stay and get the job done. But this strategy really is on both sides and they are all hypocrites.

"Senate Democrats are actively warning they may try to attach the Gang of Eight’s comprehensive immigration reform bill to the package if House Republicans pass a pared-down funding bill for the border crisis.

The complicated calculus reflects the fact that the Senate’s own $3.57 billion border supplemental legislation appears unlikely to clear a procedural vote on Wednesday. So if the House is able to pass its $659 million package later this week, Senate Democrats may press to attach their sweeping 2013 immigration reform bill to the House’s legislation....Though they won’t admit it, the move from Senate Democrats also serves as a way to derail the House Republican border-crisis package released earlier Tuesday. House Republican leadership will need every GOP vote to pass the legislation when it comes up for a vote on Thursday, and Democrats dangling the prospect of conference on the Gang of Eight bill feeds into fears from House GOP hardliners that any bill dealing with the border crisis could evolve into immigration legislation that they abhor."
