LSUsports.net finally released it Bogany Out at Least Three Weeks with Wrist Injury BATON ROUGE -- LSU centerfielder Jarred Bogany, who injured his wrist prior to Tuesday's game with Centenary, might return to the lineup in three weeks, team trainer Beau Lowery said Wednesday. Bogany, a freshman from Houston, tore a tendon sheath in his right wrist during batting practice on Tuesday and missed the Tigers' 15-3 win over Centenary. He was examined on Wednesday by LSU team doctors. "Jarred will be in a splint for two weeks," Lowery said, "and we will then re-evaluate his status. He could begin hitting at that time, and if he is not in a lot of pain, the best-case scenario would be that he could return to the lineup three weeks from now." Bogany was named Monday as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week by the league office. A product of George Bush High School in Houston, he enjoyed a magnificent collegiate debut, leading LSU to a series victory last weekend over North Florida. Bogany hit .727 (8-for-11) in the three-game series with two doubles, two RBI, two runs and one stolen base. He also made a spectacular catch in Game 1 to rob a UNF batter of an extra-base hit. Bogany was the 15th round selection of the Pittsburgh Pirates in last summer's Major League draft.
2 observations: 1. Maybe that's where he hurt his wrist. 2. With our talent, we should not have to make spectacular catches to rob a UNF batter of an extra base hit.:hihi:
heh....Nomar had the same type of injury when he played with the Red Sox a few years ago. Lets home Bogany has better success returning (then again, I doubt Bogany is a premadona like Nomar).
While the injury is definately a best-case scenario, it is still very unfortunate. Bogany was really starting to catch-fire. Smoke made a great point when he commented that since Bogany is a freshman, there is no telling how long it will take him to get back into form. I'm just hoping for a relatively healthy squad once the SEC starts...
