This thread reminded me of my grandmother. She used to say, "Shrimps". To the day she died we could never break her of that.
Yep.............my Denham Springs MIL shops at Targets and Walmarts too. I asked her if they had built two, individual Walmart stores side by side and she looked at me really funny........Also asked me one time when I flew to Angland, "which way do you turn"???
If I was in LA today I would, or even Houston down in Viet League City. Here in DFW, Kroger had pretty good sale on 21-25, deveined "Indonesian" shrimps, I did notice the eyes were a little more slanted than the "coonass" shrimps I get out of the gulf!!!:geauxtige
I must give you my thanks, TCUTiger. This thread forced me to go get some Super Jumbos at the store across the lake. I'm now *ready*, yet it's another 5 hours till kick-off =S
When I boil shrimp, crab, or crawfish (I haven't had crawfish in years), I use butter or oleo (as my maw-maw & paw-paw used to call it) to help make it easier with the peeling. I also put my favorite sausage, potatoes, corn in the boil...granted all this was taught to me. And I usually use Zatarains if it's available or Old Bay or Tony's as my seasoning. C'est Bon! This is some outstanding sausage if anyone ever makes it up to Alaska! We can get crawfish up here, it'll cost hundreds of dollars for a sack of live ones. Alaskan Sausage
When I was in Fairbanks a few years ago the Kroger had live crawfish... granted they were about $8/lb but I just needed enough for making etouffe... of course it was enough etouffe to feed my SIL's platoon.
