You know that I agree that if a team wins 'em all, they deserve mad props.

But on some level, you can understand that no matter how good the team is, in the day and age of parity, even the best teams don't win them all. Some people may think that Boise was the best this year. For all we know, they could have been. But that's the thing. We'll never know. Because when you look at UF's schedule and you look at Boise's schedule, do you honestly think that they compare? No.

And that's why they can't claim it.

But you can't really blame Boise. Oregon State came to Boise this year and look what happened to them. Boise will never bring in a major powerhouse and rarely will a powerhouse WANT to play a team like Boise. Boise would LOVE to play higher competition, thats how your program becomes greater.

Just look at Gonzaga basketball out in the WCC. Basketball is different though. There are more games and the success of your program does not rest on one game. LSU B-ball lost to mid-major Wichita State this year but we are fine regarding the rest of the season. If Oklahoma lost to Boise State during the season instead of Oregon....Oklahoma would FREE FALL in the polls, thus erasing all hope of a at large BCS berth.

The problem is the BCS powerhouse teams don't want to risk they season by playing the highers from lowly confrences. Top BCS confrence teams can easily reach a BCS game by scheduling cupcakes in addition to your confrence foes (see USC in previous years). This cupcake scheduling hurts the non-BCS confrences more than people think.

Boise State, Utah, TCU, etc would love to prove to you that they are a worthy national championship contendor during the season, however, they lack the possibility due to top competition's fear of scheduling them.

Yup, I would love to see a Boise State have a chance to claim the National Title...ON THE FIELD!

The only chance Boise State has to win a NC is to repeat undefeated seasons in back to back seasons because much of your position is determined by pre-season rankings.

not true we scheduled fresno when they were the elite of the also rans and ASU as well. Sometimes it never pans out.

Boise deserves nothing til a playoff is decided upon. until then join a real conference or stfu.

if you cant join a real conference, then thats your answer. thats like saying when tulane went 12-0 they deserved the NC. they deserved nothing.

they are tulane. just like notre dame is notre dame. they suck. period.

ASU is in the Pac-10...a BCS confrence.
I'm not saying a mid to top school from a lowly confrence NEVER plays a top BCS school...I'm saying many schools try to stay away from it in favor of cupcakes or high program OOC games for revenue/media exposure.

Too bad everyone can't join the SEC. NCAA football wouldn't enjoy the success it does today without the non-BCS confrences.

If you run the table...you deserve to be in the National Title talk. That doesn't mean they will be in the talk. Why is college football (Division 1-A only) the only sport I can think of where if you win all your games you can't even be in consideration for a NC? Hell, a pee-wee football team can win a championship by winning alltheir games.

Before the Fiesta Bowl I was wary of supporting Boise State. THEY BEAT OKLAHOMA! Oklahoma was one screw job away from potentially being in the NCG picture!!! Boise State proved they could hang with the Big Dogs.

You know, I remember reading a post here how you guys were disappointed that there were not more ND fans on these boards. You guys complain how bad the ND board is, where they unfairly banned a number of LSU fans there. You guys even made a game of it, trying to get banned. And, yet, when I show up, you guys want to ban me.

That is gonna be the killer of the BCS altogether.

Imagine next year if you will.

Say Texas runs the table, as does LSU, and Notre Dame. All of them undefeted.

Now Texas vs LSU in the National Championship, because Notre Dame's win over HEAVILY FINED USC does not propel them into the National Championship game.

Say LSU wins and Notre Dame beats UCLA or Michigan twice in one year.

Now you got LSU Champions with Notre Dame undefeted my oh my how the heads will roll.

I can see it now!!! Playoffs and the SEC total domination of the college football landscape.

The irony is that in 2003, Boise State was one of the teams that finished with one loss before their bowl games, along with SC, LSU, and Oklahoma. Clearly, LSU belonged in the NC. But, my thing is that how can you claim to be the champion when you didn't beat the number one team, SC, which was ranked number one in both polls before that NC game. The difference is that Boise State was never ranked number one in both polls and still got denied a chance to play in the NC game. How does SC dominate Michigan, but end up dropping in the polls? If there wasn't the contractual obligation, where the winner of that game between Ok-LSU automatically shot up to number one in the coaches poll, then the coaches would have continued to ranke SC as the number one team. The problem was that Oklahoma should have never played in the NC game in the first place, especially after getting spanked the week before.
