I don't give to anybody or organization that has way more money than me. And who came up with that 10% crap? I might drop a fiver or a ten in the plate or even a twenty if I'm feeling generous but that's all they're getting out of me.
Genesis 28, where Jacob promises to give God “a full tenth. Also, the tithe was an obligatory offering from the law of Moses requiring 10 percent of an Israelite’s firstfruits. Because God provided the harvest, this first part was returned to him. If for some reason someone needed to “redeem” or keep all or a portion of the goods he was to tithe, he could just give money instead. However, the cash would need to be equal to the tithe’s value, plus an extra fifth. In other words, Israelites could give 10 percent in produce, or 12 percent in cash.
Jacob can do whatever he wants with his own money and I'm not an Israelite. I don't think it's a go to hell offense to refuse to give my money to so-called holy men. God is all powerful. If he deems it necessary for a church to have more money he is quite capable of making it so with a wave of his hand. The only one I'll give a significant percentage of my income to is the taxman and only because I don't want to go to prison.
Now we got tiga in here preaching. Must you ruin every thread? I give plenty btw, the suckers still want more. I counted 5x they passed the collection plate. Last time I was in that building.
Agree. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Mark 12:17 Jesus said, "give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God" so you're on the right track.
Only if it's one of those white collar crime country club prisons where you play a lot of golf and write a book telling your side of the story.
