Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill BP has finally released video footage of the leak and independent researchers are questioning the 5,000 barrrels per day numbers. The oil slick expert has been saying that the slick is too large for 5,000 BPD and now the guy that is an expert in assessing flow rates from image particle analysis is saying that it is closer to 50,000 BPD which would already make it twice as big as Exxon Valdez.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill i was reading that last night. first it was point the finger. now its gonna be "ocean gate" or "gulf gate" or whatever "gate" you want to call it.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill some how i missed this post earlier. i cant say that information surprises me, and i am also not surprised that bp would down play the damage.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Great. The news keeps getting better and better. I've almost quit following this story because it's so depressing, but I heard on the radio, and this may be complete BS, that they're saying it could be another 75 days or so before it's capped. If that's true, words cannot express the anger, contempt, and overall negative feelings I have towards those responsible.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Bob Breck was talking about the "glob" floating south and possible getting caught in the loop current which would take it in a stream line for Florida....I am sure if that happens they will find some miracle way to get it done REALLY quick
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill wish me luck. if the weather is right, i'm heading out in the boat tomorrow.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill luck. of the good variety. hope you get to fish. as far as the spill, is anyone else concerned about the dispersant chemicals they plan to use underwater? does anyone (and i mean anyone, including those making the decision to use it) know what the impact on marine life will be? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gulf_oil_spill i mean, even if officials start seeing negative side effects and halt it, is it too late and the damage done? even as bad as this spill is, it is worth taking the chance of making matters worse with a chemical that the effects are unknown? quite honestly, i dont trust bp officials at all, or their thinking about the environment.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Someone needs to remind these clowns that the Fed Corps of Engineers was deemed liable for the levee failure after Katrina. Courts are not ruling in the Feds favor which means they're not as untouchable as they think they are for their poor decisions.
