Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Oil From Spill Washes Ashore Along Louisiana Coast this really sucks. hopefully the Navy has a submersible that can shut this damn thing off.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill this is gonna get UGLY. right now, there is pretty much panicked hysteria trying to control/stop this thing. Once that is done, they're gonna start pointing fingers. And the 1st guy they get to that doesn't have his sh!t together is gonna get slammed. HARD. From there, comes the trickle down effect. Whoever manufactured that BOP will probably see a HUGE drop in sales. Word will spread around the industry, and spread fast. They will basically be blackballed. Most of your big oil companies spec out all their valves and instrumentation. We've done a lot of work for BP. While not the strictest in the industry (ExxonMobil is probably strictest), they run a tight ship. For any pipe and fittings, they have a list of approved countries. All material has to be traceable to it's raw material coming from one of these countries. USA, Japan, Western Europe, and a few others. For all their valves and instrumentation, it's even stricter. They have a list of acceptable manufacturers for each valve going on a line. Depending on the valve type, only the best handful of mfgs make the list. On some valves, they spec in a specific name and model number, and won't take any exceptions. We don't sell Blow out Preventers, so I don't know who is on their approved list, but you can bet your @$$ the 3-5 (if that many) manufacturers on that approved list are all sweating right now.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill come to my neck of the woods. spill is supposed to stay east of here. we can head farther west to be on safe side
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill In about another 6-8 weeks, I'm gonna be knockin on y'all's door!
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill I don't know about that, but I hope you are right. I know some folks down in Dulac who are pretty worried.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill don't get me wrong. I'm definitely concerned and will keep a watchful eye on this thing. But so far all the projections have it moving north and east. if that trend continues, it won't hit our coast here in Terrebonne. The fishing/shrimping/crabbing/oysters will still be phucked though.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill Have the shrimp started running down P'tite Caillou yet? I was thinking about heading to the camp and throwing the net tomorrow night.
Re: Oil Rig explosion/Gulf Oil Spill I will do what I have to do...but Big Lake is approximately 4.5 hours from me. Yesterday I was yankin' on redfish approx 1.5 hours after I left my house. - I can be at Nootch's house in about 2.5 hours though...:hihi:
