I used to rarely see sea turtles here at Navarre Beach but the last 3 days I have seen at least 5 come close to the shoreline. I assume it is because they are trying to get away from the oil and chemicals.:dis:
Are there places where turtles can be taken for rescue? I am sure this is gonna affect migration and natural nesting areas for many species so it is my hope someone is trying to prioritize species which are already endangered. It is sad the critters have no idea other than just WTF.
Can you please provide the details or a link to the details of the Federal Government's official obligations and response to deepwater drilling failures? Thanks... When you're done, we'll discuss what socialists are because you don't have a clue about that either. I'll also give you the winning powerball numbers.
Seems overboard to me. Here is the CEO from Exxon testifying before congress, the plans the oil companies have are not worth the paper they are written on, and they knew it. How's the govt. supposed to fix this, if the oil companies have all the technology and they can't fix it? Gulf Oil Spill Testimony: Rex Tillerson, Exxon Mobil CEO, Admits Being Helpless At Handling Major Oil Spills (VIDEO) Since all the oil companies had plans to stop the leaks and clean things up, it is clear that was the plan. The govt. didn't have a plan, because the oil industry was supposed to have a plan. Now we see the oil companies have plans (all the same plan) and they don't work. So now we are adlibing, inventing a plan on the fly. This is the first big leak of a deep water well in US history, so nobody in the govt. has any experience with it. That's not like a hurricane, where we have several per year come ashore.
They could have done what Jindal wanted to do by building islands or oil skimmers to help try and prevent some of the oil by reaching the shore. They could have responded to Jindals requests in a timely manner. They could have not stopped Jindals efforts of to contain the spill. They could have not went on with business as usual during the beginning of the crisis. OR the could have followed the EPA guidelines and responded to the crisis instead of ignoring it. Btw Obama wouldn't have said the federal government wasn't taken charge if they had no responsibility in this. National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan Overview | Emergency Management | US EPA You wouldn't know a communist or socialist if it hit you in the ass! I took your post as arrogant, you are usually arrogant and condescending *****************!
You have totally missed my point. Let me make myself clear, I didn't mean the government was responsible for stopping the leak, BP is responsible. The Government is responsible for responding to the aftermath of the oil spill including oil out in federal waters. They should have at least tried to slow down the aftermath by any means possible which would have made this disaster have less of an impact on wildlife and land. Instead the fed ignored, stalled and got in the way of what the local authorities in La were trying to do! I don't think we have any business drilling in deep water, we should be drilling on land and in shallow waters so that if something goes wrong we have a way to fix the problem btw. National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan Overview | Emergency Management | US EPA Again it is part of the Federal governments job to respond to disasters. Sixty Nine percent of the population believe Obama's response has been worse than Katrina. Obama stated that the feds have been in charge since day 1, why if they have no responsibility? http://abcnews.go.com/WN/bp-oil-spill-gov-bobby-jindals-wishes-crude/story?id=10946379 http://www.businessinsider.com/here...ed-international-help-on-the-oil-spill-2010-6 Edit to add the following link also! http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N19189717.htm How about this, if the left who is in charge of the country really cared about the environment they would have done everything they could to avoid this disaster being as bad as it is EVEN if they weren't responsible. We were even offered help from other countries and refused! Where are the environmentalists who should be questioning their own government along with BP, I'm not taking anything away from BP either. They repulse me for taking short cuts but I also have to wonder what the regulators were doing at the time, watching porn?
Glad we agree the govt. is not skilled nor equipped to plug the hole. On the response to the oil in the water, I agree the feds should have mobilized a better effort to contain and clean up the oil. As a software product manager, my team sends out bugs like all software groups do, and occasionally they have the ability to shutdown some of the fortune 100 customers worldwide and nationally. Then I get to do some crisis management, and get fussed at by the customers (that's the least enjoyable aspect of my job). I could do a better job managing the crisis than has been done, I think. The feds had a plan for dealing with oil spills, but I don't think they had a plan for a spill this size. All the spills they have dealt with in history have been much smaller. Here's a good article from USAToday about the situation: Our view on Gulf disaster: Big Oil's shoddy spill plans reflect industry's arrogance - USATODAY.com
Unbelievable. Thank goodness Obama's not wasting a minute dealing with the oil spill from day one. I don't support or condemn either story. It just seems funny that one guy is crucified, and the other story is hardly mentioned other than "what the Prez is doing".
