I like how the L.A. Times pretty much dismisses us as well (sorry, LSU, gotta keep the non-BCS #12 rule in place). :dis:

Actually I agree with this assesment. If there were only 8 spots this year as in years past, we should probably be left out. The only argument against it would be to knock out Boise and truthfully, I don't know if that's good for college football in the long run.

He's saying that Michigan and Boise State would be the only 2 at-large berths (basically reverting to how it was last year with only 8 BCS berths). And he did say LSU (really sorry) versus Notre Dame (sorry), and that showed much respect for LSU.

He has the right idea. He's saying use the BCS CG as an extra game based on the results of the previous week's 4 BCS bowls. Although I would go so far as to say you need to pit #1 vs #4 in the BCS in one bowl, and #2 vs #3 in the BCS in another bowl, then the extra game a week later would be between the winners. Even his method I would prefer over how it's decided now.

I think this is the best realistic solution we could hope for. Although a long shot itself.

I remain incredulous, baffled, shocked*, angered, etc. that a Notre Dame team that has twice been exposed on national TV as mediocre, at best, can still be hyped by the national media as a candidate for a high profile BCS game.

*well, not shocked because I've been seeing the same thing happen for 40 years.

What I don't get is why doesn't any of the talkin heads call it out for what it is?

The talkin heads make it sound like its ok to pick this mediocre team to play Michigan, as if all of a sudden Notre Dame will acquire some talented players and beat Michigan.

And who is Brad Edwards? Let me guess, just another Big 10, Pac 10, Big 12, Big East, and Notre Damn blow hard. I wish they would make ND play one year in the SEC. Just one, that's all it would take. ESPN, ABC, and the BCS are the biggest kiss A$$es.

Brad Edwards is actually a well respected BCS guru, unfortunately.

He and Jerry Palm are the 2 most renowned in the field.

Speaking of Jerry Palm and collegebcs.com, does anybody have a subscription to his site and can tell us what he is saying about all of this?

Apparently, Edwards gets his ego "stroked" by Jerry's "Palm".
