Torris Bright = 2000 SEC Co-Freshman of the Year (Joe Johnson of Ark. Shared) Stromile Swift = 2000 SEC Player of the Year Jabari Smith = 2000 1st team All-SEC Lamont Roland = 1999 JUCO Player of the Year (Previous two year's winners were Steve Francis who went to Maryland and Chris Porter of Auburn). Brian Beshara = Overachiever Off the bench Ronald Dupree Germaine Williams Collis Temple III Brad Bridgewater That was Brady's best year, and he had recruited all of those players. Jabari was a JUCO signee from Atlanta JUCO, as was Roland. Torris was a Brady recruit. Swift came to LSU after getting told he wasn't HS to NBA material and Michigan couldn't get him qualified. We were-essentially-his third choice, and it showed with how long he stayed here. It wasn't a fluke, because he brought and developed all that talent, and that's no lie...But what has he done since then? How has he put it together again? That's right, he hasn't...It's just time to cut bait...and it's been time for a few years now...It's sad, really...
Ehh my bad i meant his little brother....Tony....I remember him saying Brady wasnt given him enough playing time to help his shot at the Nba...or some shat like that....gosh i miss that sweet 16 team.
TE, There is no question in my mind that the program has regressed and like I've been saying this team isn't nearly as talented or play nearly as good as that 2000 team. I believe the recruiting has really hit a landslide since 2000 for some reason with the exception of Brandon Bass. We don't have a player on coming off the bench like Ronald Dupree. Do you agree with this or not? If you do think that recruiting is hitting the skids than I assume that maybe Brady's assistants at the time were better at evaluating talent than he is? I believe some 1 of them was Tim Floyd and some have left? I haven't really kept up with assistant coaches.
Brady is an excellent talent evaluator... Getting Swift, Smith, Bright, Dupree, Roland, Lloreda, Minor, Bass, Tasmin, and Davis on campus, while even getting a commitment from Kedrick Brown is a tell-tale aspect of his ability to recruit... What I question is that for each one of those bonanzas, we see a JueMichael Young, who should never have been at LSU. We get a Shawnson Johnson, who was such as goatf$ck from jump street (His grades getting in late, his cornrows, his meltdown after game 3 of his freaking career!) that's its unbelievable... Hell, we can't even get them on camps anymore before they meltdown (See Spencer Ford)... We take one step forward in recruiting, and then take 2 steps back very quickly... Tyrus Thomas? Garrett Temple? Xavier Whipple? How are these guys legitimate SEC Players? They aren't! Why can't we recruit a guard in the mold of a Ben Gordon, who can elevate, get his own shot, or dribble drive, as well as "Dee-ing up" and defending on top of the spot up jumper we seemingly have no trouble with. We can't put it together, and on top of all of that, we have a coach who has LOST his team...Everyone knows what happened and what the exchange meant after the Houston game between Brady and the team... It's time to cut bait...You don't sit there and pull and tug on your line over and over again after you've hung it up in the limb under the water...Eventually, you realize you aren't going to get it back...It's going to remain under the surface, doing nothing but HOLDING YOU DOWN, until you cut it, restring, and cast over again... CUT BAIT, LSU ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT!
Good post. Kedrick was recruited by a lot of D-1 major schools. He mainly wanted to play at LSU b/c his family would get to see him. He was getting so much attention from NBA teams, just hard to pass up all that $$$$.
LSU basketball is crumbling under John Brady. He does get the players...then what? Pushes there buttons and humiliates them until they quit or crack. Back when John Brady got his new contract extension, I emailed the athletic department and asked for the reasoning behind it. I didnt understand why we were resigning him. They replied by saying that he is a good recruiter and that LSU attendance has increased compared to the rest of the SEC during his tenure. I'm holding by a very thin thread, i've almost given up on LSU basketball, it is so disheartening to see this Brady guy single handedly bring a program down. Just my .02 cents. Its time for change, Brady CANNOT get it down...he has the talent this year and is doing nothing. He did come in when LSU was hurting for scholarships, but now there is NO more excuses for him. We need to FIRE JOHN BRADY!
