Thanks. That name never rang a bell with me when I saw him playing for TT, but I don't follow bball recruiting as closely as I once did. Which is why I'm curious to know why he left. If it had anything to do with him not being able to handle Knight's style, then LSU may not be his best option. Don't think any coach is tougher on his players than Knight, but Brady is no picnic either.
Not going to get ahead of myself, but man, Brady and Butch, where are you on this!??? Notes to the gallery: Martin's key stats? The good: Note that he's a 38% 3 point shooter (vs. .333 for Voogd and .162 for Temple). The bad: May not help us with turnovers. He's got a .69 A-2-TO ratio. The ugly: Note also that he's a .560 FT shooter... People on this board might try to convince you that this is due to coaching ... :hihi: I guess Bobby Knight can't teach free throwing either... All kidding aside, I don't want to get too excited. Perhaps we have a shot at landing him, but I don't know the history of this guy's recruitment by the team or his relationship with our players/staff. Seems like a no brainer that we'd go out and try to sign this guy.:geauxtige By the way, I think it's cool that Tech's site tracks "points per shot" as a statistic. I'd like to see how the LSU team stacks up in that category.
You ever notice how the grass is always greener... That coach is better than ours... That player would be better than the one we have now... You ice cream looks better than mine...
They read a statement on the local news here in Monroe last night about him leaving TT. He said his reason for leaving had nothing to do with Coach Knight, but that he was really homesick and hated being over 6 hours from home. The kid probably was a little out of his comfort zone since he was coached at Richwood by his dad. :geauxtige
Man, even better, right! If he wants to stay close to home (and geez, we know Lubbock doesn't have a whole lot to offer), where is he going to play, but a LA school? LSU has a shot, right?
Does the above post presage an omadawn? Please cite the deficiencies that you alluded to. You mustn't be referring to the Medical Complex, Agricultural Standing, Universities, Law and Medical Schools, Entertainment, or Historical Significance. Arrant babble, if you lack the depth to appreciate that unfamiliar to you, spare me the ludicrously false statements.
No offense, but I've known a lot of folks from Tech and I live in Texas. Aside from the University (most of the things that you alluded to that were good... ) campus, I guess I should ask what is there for a 19 year old basketball player from LA to appreciate... the historical importance? Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against Lubbock, as most of the folks that I know that went there liked it as a school, but it's not known for the exciting life outside of campus. Most of the athletes that go there in Texas or the SW, are players that want to go to a good Big 12 program, but know it's a lower tier school by Texas, Oklahoma standards. Baton Rouge is closer to home for Martin and has more to offer, IMO.
http://m-w.com/dictionary/omadawn http://m-w.com/dictionary/presage How could his post possibly be portending anything? He is alluding to the present state of Lubbock. http://m-w.com/dictionary/arrant I doubt that word's been used since the times of Shakespeare... since the only reference it can give was from the Bard.
Homesick I understand. You will, however, find that Lubbock has the amenities that other cities have, just not in the same number. I can't say that I look at Lubbock as a 19 year old basketball player, but as a father of two children. I see many people moving back to Lubbock after dealing with the hassles of DFW, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. I enjoy visiting all those places, but I wouldn't want to live there either.
Which is THE dictionary? I will not let you off that easy. It is a word, not common, but an honest word. presage an omadawn means indicates an omadawn. I disagree with his assesment, does that make him an omadawn? I am not sure, that is why I asked if the post INDICATES an omadawn. I like your definition, quite powerful. I know that I am not the only one who has used the word since ol Bill was around. http://www.thevoicenews.com/News/2002/0906/In_Response/R03_Peyser-spies.html In ResponseSeptember 6, 2002 </STRONG>Arrant Nonsense About Israeli Spies By Marvin Peyser, Torrington
