Now that the thread has been hijaacked beyond all state of normalcy, I wish to return to the original discussion by reporting that Jason Van Buskirk reported this morning on Sports Gumbo that it was "imminent" that Terry Martin would sign with LSU.
He is out-of-state, so it is highly unlikely Brady will get him. Brady's recruiting abilities seem limited when it comes to attracting OOS players.
Martin is from Louisiana. Brady gets slam for not keeping in-state talent here and for not recruiting out-of-state players. Sounds like a no-win situation.:thumb: Getting talent to LSU is not Brady's problem, except for a point guard...
Ok, I will say this... WHEN READING THIS THREAD SKIP THE MIDDLE OF PAGE 2 TO THE TOP OF THIS PAGE... To continue with the LSU bball recruiting news, here's the latest from the Advocate this morning, which gets me jazzed... http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/2174182.html It looks like things are hush hush, since NCAA rules prohibit LSU from talking about any transfers until their school releases them, but strong indications that LSU may in fact get Terry Martin Jr. Texas Tech is supposedly "working with LSU" on the paperwork. This would be awesome. Not because I necessarily think Terry Martin Jr. is the savior, but he IS a big guard, from the non-Baton Rouge area, who looks to be athletic, can hit the three AND according to the article, actually played some point guard in high school. Nearly averaged a triple double in high school at Richmond-Monroe, with 24 pts, 10 rbs, and 9 assists. 9 assists. And given his transfer would be able to play the second semester of next year and have two more years after that. It's a good complement to D.Mason who has 2 years starting with next year. Which means Terry Martin Jr. has a top quality guy to go against in practice, and he will be a much needed back up SG and also can play swing forward when the Tigers need more outside shooting, and can definitely be a starting SG on this team his senior. In the meantime the Tigers get two SEC starting quality 6'5" shooting guards on their squad. If Tack doesn't come back or is not in the best of form, Terry Martin could get minutes at point too, if we need a big point. More importantly, the Tigers get a foot into recruiting folks from Monroe, which seems to be turning out some good players we're not even seeing. In looking at future bball recruiting, it looks like BAYLOR of all places has already gotten a soft verbal from PG LaceDarius Dunn who is a 6-4" Jr. PG from Monroe (Baylor also took away Demond Carter from Reserve Christian, generally regarded as the second best PG prospect in '05-'06 to DJ Augustin, who the Tigers also didn't get b/c we were focused on DJ) over LSU and others. Getting a high profile kid from Monroe is almost as important as the fact that we got a SG who can help out almost immediately when he steps out on the court. I don't want to jinx us though, so Terry, if you're reading this. We hope you become a Tiger! :geauxtige
Martin's big problem at TTU has been his like of the one on one game. When he is struggling within a game he reverts to what he does best. Knight doesn't like it, TM sits. Really as simple as that.
i get your point, but it seems we dont have a ballhandler with one-on-one skills. sometimes that is really valuable.
