i watched most of his games the first half of the season or at least part. he had regressed a lot from the previous year and was constantly throwing far too early, getting flustered and basically looked like a freshman. Yet the Heisman hype was still going full-bore and the pencil geeks never noticed. of course, this was against the meat of their schedule. mich/penn st/ga tech world-beaters. as average as he looked last night with no pressure, he looked vastly better than the first part of the season. dont get me wrong, I think he will be a decent qb in the nfl. Im not one who thinks hes a complete bust, just way overhyped and its not his fault. i do think samardzjia was a classless bitch last night. he better stick with the cubs than his dream of the nfl if he thought our corners were too physical.
Tell me about it. Every time he didn't catch the ball he would look at the ref and do the "throw the flag" routine. Damn, I hate him now.
BQ cannot do it all by himself. Like any other QB, he needs enough protection to have time to throw the ball and he needs his WRs to get open. Because of Ty Willingham's passion for golf, ND talent level has been below a lot of the teams it faced the past two years. I've seen BQ play almost every game this year, and he's had to carry the team almost by himself for much of the year. He's not like a Troy Smith, who has superior talent at every position. He's thrown 37 TDs vs. 7 interceptions, and he has a QB rating of 146.65.
Better go check our QB's stats, then watch the game replay from last night, if you can stand it. Everyone could use a good cry now and then.:bncry:
Jamarcus is better than "good" today ... if you're talking college. But if you're talking pro, IMO Quinn has more upside potential at the next level than does Russell. Specifically, Russell takes far too many chances, both passing and running the ball. NFL scouts will likely downgrade him for that. regarding Quinn, I agree that his performance in the Sugar was erratic. At times he looked brilliant, and at other times (like when it counted) he looked average. But it is very easy - even for the casual CFB fan - to ascertain that Quinn is going to be a player at the next level. He won't be drafted that high (mebbe middle of 1st round?) , but at a minimum he's going to be a servicable QB. JR will get his shot too, and may even draft higher than Quinn. But IMO, his footwork is subpar by NFL standards whereas Quinn's is superb. Every great QB has had a solid foundation. Sure , Quinn threw into several coverage situations in the Sugar, but let's face it .... Weiss was overmatched at the outset and he knew it. Why else the risky fake punt so early, before they had the chance to really get a feel for the LSU ST unit's stunts? If you've seen several of BQ's games this season, you'll know what I'm talking about with Quinn ...... and most of you recognize that i've been a fan of JR's for awhile. When JR is "on," there are few better nationally. But when he's off, he's really off.
I actually don't fully agree. Most of the time, when he's off, it's because of some turnover(s) caused more by a terrible decision(s) rather than gross inaccuracy. See: 1st half fumble last night. The 'old' JR was very hit-or-miss. But he's gotten incredibly consistent lately.
id guess he averaged close to 4 tds a game vs the service academy circuit and north carolina. the absolute worst defenses in the country. so say he threw 16 in those 4 games. that leaves 21 scattered over the rest of the 9 games. 9 into 21, carry the 2....my math tells me he wasnt carrying much of anything except charlie weis' cheetos. 2 td passes a game outside of that. heisman like. keep in mind thats against powerhouses such as mich st, purdue and stanford. the meat of your schedule.
They ran a couple of screens to recievers and RB's. He had all day to throw the ball and missed several wide open recievers. He may be good but is definitely overrated and I saw him play several times this year.
