    What are you reading????

Are you serious????? Dude, The title of this thread is about this year's signing class not last year. Wake up and smell the coffee.

    "This year's class"

Glenn Davis: Davis will be a good one I admit that and commend the coaching staff for signing a good prospect from the University's Labratory High School.

Garrett Temple: An average 6'5" guard who scores about 10 points a game for University High. Everyone knows this was a favor to the Temple family (Collis II, Collis III both played at LSU). Temple is an average player who would probably be a good fit for a McNeese, Northwestern, SLU program).

    And two JUCO players.

Spencer Ford of Scotlandville who just got kicked out of JUCO and a Kentrell Gransberry a 6'9" former teammate of freshman Darnell Lazare.

This class sucks. Davis is the only quality player in it.

Not last year's class Mr. Mike D.

This whole post is about this year's class. Not last year's class. Smell the coffee now????

LSU is not Duke. Deal with it. We have signed a national top 10 player in Davis. He is a star, not merely a quality player.

What is wrong with Garrett Temple?? He will be a 4 year player that and the type of person that everyone and their mother is clamboring that Brady needs to be recruiting instead of risky players that have potential but also may have character issues.

At the stage that LSU's program is at, you can't have both unless you get lucky... most of the great person-great player recruits go to the Dukes and Stanfords of the world.

    hmmmmm

You are right. Glenn Davis is a an outstanding player. A player that will defintely help our basketball team.

You can not say he is a star before he even gets on the court at LSU. He will be a good one. He is a quality recruiter. A top 10 player as you said.

LSU is the top basketball school in the state. Just like our football team is the top football team in the state.

We should go after the Top players in the state. Not guys that will be four year players.

Here is a list of the some of the top seniors in the state of Louisiana.

Glenn Davis of University High, Shan Foster of Bonnabel, Martin Zeno of Sulphur, DeAngelo Lee of St. Thomas More, David Gomez of Episcopal, and Derek Gray of Jeanerette.

6 of the top players in the state in all classifications and we sign 1. Great job Brady.

LSU is not Duke? Where was baseball at LSU before Skip and for that matter where was baseball in all of La. The closest and only close pro team to La is Houston yet we can build the #1 program in the nation at a "football school"? Please don't come here an argue that we can not build a legitimate basketball team just because it is at LSU:dis: :dis: :dis:

The south is tops in producing football and baseball recruits, but not as good as producing basketball talent. So you can't assume that LSU will get all top flight recruits bases solely on it's location.

Also, comparing Brady to Skip Bertman, the greatest baseball coach of all-time, is just not fair. What Skip did with the baseball team was phenomenal but he wasn't under a debilitating probation for his first 5 years.

LSU is building a program after emerging from probation. Give it some time. Brady brought in a top 5 class last year, is bringing in an OK class this year and should bring in another star in Tasmin Mitchell next year. Patience...

You can't compare baseball to basketball. When is the last time a team from a region other than the deep south and the west coast won the College World Series. About sixty percent of the country has no chance because of weather. California, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida are the states that seem to win the majority of the titles.

LSU is not Duke, you got that right.

Duke might have a few more championships than LSU but LSU is
    a better basketball school historically.

    Bob Pettit, Pete Maravich, Shaq...

ONLY 3 schools have 3 players that are in the NBA top 50
    LSU, Houston, North Carolina.....

Historically LSU is better than any college except North Carolina.

Once Coach K retires Dukes basketball team will be as good as
    their football team.

I will argue the impact of LSU players in college is not an issue when you consider what Chris Jackson did also.

I do give the edge to North Carolina when you get to Jordon and
the pros and some of the other players they've had in NBA.

LSU is a basketball school for the reasons stated above and their
is no reason why we can't get better talent here besides some
of these thugs Brady is now recruiting.

Are you going to tell me we can't find or get these players out of
the state of Louisiana to follow the great LSU players listed above
    LEGENDS..........

btw It should be a little easier since we're no longer no probation

Brady needs to try and recruit better character players first before
getting some of these other players.

PS Duke and Kansas doesn't even have 1 player in NBA top 50!

Agreed. Duke basketball was good, not great, before Coach K. He took them up five notches, just like Skip Bertman did for LSU baseball. However, I disagree that Duke is going to decline once Coach K retires. He left a mark of excellence on that program that will be continued, like, hopefully, will be the case for LSU baseball even now that Bertman is gone.

We have tradition in basketball here. We can be great at this sport. We just have to commit ourselves to excellence, and improve our recruiting, our facilities, our fan support, and our expectations to achieve and expect excellence.

Can Coach Brady take us to that level? I don't know. I will wait until after the season to post my full analysis and opinion on Brady.
