This reminds me of Larry Cochell's off the record comments to a reporter. (Didn't agree with his comments, but they were of the record.) Off the record, or overheard, I don't think they should be printed. Cheap-shot so-called journalism.
Not sure about how he is with the players, but I've known several people that have encountered him in day-to-day relations and the overwhelming consensus is that he is a serious prick. Not that it matters...
i was on my way to work one day and some guy i know had a benefit being thrown for him due to his cancer and I decided to stop by and drop off some money... it wasnt widely advertised or anything, just a small thing amongst family and friends. out of the blue john brady showed up to give 100 bucks or so. no publicity thing or nothing. met him a few times and hes always been a great guy. i like the dude. I still have my bobble head of him that i worship.
when you throw the bobble head part in, i cant tell if any or none of that is serious. for the record, i wasnt kidding. brady interviews his own players for inside lsu basketball, and it appears to me they are getting along fine. i know that means nothing, and he could be a prick like veryone says. but i know poeple like to say that people are *******s when they really arent.
no im serious. theres a silent auction at the recruiting bash each year with all kinds of LSU stuff that drunk people overbid on just as a donation. there was some woman who bid on all the bobble heads, starting with skip bertmans which was somewhere around 100 bucks or more. she was hogging all the sign up sheets so no one else could outbid her. so I decided to sneak up and bid on the brady one with a couple seconds left for like a buck more. needless to say, she wanted to kick my ass as i was having it wrapped. brady is a cool dude. i also have a lance berkman one I worship as well.
figured you'd like this martian....if you didnt hear brady's call-in show last night. some dude thanked him for answering him or something the other day and he said look man you must have me confused with some of those other guys (head coaches) there. you can stop in my office and talk anytime you want. anyone can just walk on in, the door's open. want my cell number u can have that too. the guy thought he was kidding and said no. so if you want brady's cell # let me know.
