I didn't watch the Hornets at all last year but doesn't David West play PF? Wasn't he a mid-1st round pick last year (or year before)? It seems like he was at least part of the rotation last year and I remember thinking he had pretty good potential in college.

Not going to be drafted? HA!

Hornets are my NBA team, so.. it's good news for me either way.

    Good luck, Brandon!

I just wanted to say that I'm very happy for Bass. Personally, I thought he was in the 40-60 range so it was nice to see him make that jump. I guess this will make some Hornets fans out of some of those who call the show and say " There is no reason to talk about the Hornets." Imagine if they get stro. Will it be the greatest team ever? No. But, with 2 local guys who are the two highest picks for LSU since Shaq and CJ, its a good deal. You gotta know that was in the back (or front) of the minds of the Hornets front office. The team was dead last in attendence. Does adding Brandon guarantee sell outs? No. But, it certainly does help. Congrats to BB b/c he worked hard. Do I think he could have made himself a better player had he stayed? yes. But, I'm damn proud to say he was a Tiger that I had the luxury of watching in my era of LSU sports. Way To Go Man! I cant believe Lee went ahead of him. I mean, Lee's Gators lost at LSU but he did in fact handle Bass pretty well. Bass got his, but Lee did a good job on him. Probly as good as anyone did on BB. Bass was better conditioned and got the best of him in the long run in that game.

Byron Scott is building a team similar to what he had in NJ... Check this out...

Pg. Paul Kidd (this is pre-mature, but they both very creative guards)
Sg. Smith Jefferson (Jefferson was a SF, but they both the dominant scorer)
Sf. Jacobson or Nailon--- Kittles (scoring threat from outside)
Pf. Bass---K-Mart... Both undersized, but tough and explosive
    C. Magloire---- Collins

    yahoo's take on BB:

    VITALS: 6-8, 240, LSU

OVERVIEW: This season, Bass became the first Southeastern Conference Player of the Year from LSU since Shaquille O'Neal in 1992. The powerfully-built sophomore averaged 17.3 points and 9.1 rebounds while shooting a conference-best 57 percent from the floor and 78 percent from the line. He had 25 points and 12 rebounds in a first-round loss to UAB in the NCAA Tournament. He declared for NBA Draft after earning SEC Freshman of the Year in 2003-04, averaging 12.8 points and 7.4 rebounds.

LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Early second round.

    COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Corliss Williamson

    COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: George Lynch

ROLE PROJECTION: Combination forward off the bench.

POSITIVES: Bass is a confident and effective low-post scoring threat and is a good free-throw shooter. He rarely ventures far away from the basket and has a good understanding of his range and his limitations. He has better leaping ability than you might think, given his thick, muscular appearance. He is an active defender and uses his strength for leverage in pushing bigger bodies off the block.

SHORTCOMINGS: Bass spent only two years in college. For a player who needs to develop some face-the-basket skills to be more effective in the NBA, he could have used more time at the college level. Bass is only 20 years old and still has some holes in his game. Now he will have to try to fill them in while receiving limited playing time in his first season.

Obviously the Hornets strategy worked then. Sounds like there is a "Buzz" bad pun intended about them. Bass may not even be an imediate impact guy. He may just be someone who gets a few mins here and there. It all depends on what they do in the free agent market. But, on an LSU board, the driving force of the state of LA, we have people talkin about watching the hornets. Its amazing what 1 guy can do. Hopefully it'll help the Hornets with attendence somewhat. But, you gotta win to keep em coming. When Bass said he hopes the fan base he built at LSU follows him to NO, I thought "ya if you take the 4500 regulars and ad them to the 14000 you already average, you could bump up to the top 10 in attendence" :hihi: (notice the joke, just having some fun) Go get em Brandon!!

Chris Paul is a helluva reason to get interested too. Great job by the Hornets in getting talent and a buzz.
