Interesting article before this week's game. http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/in...n_harris_nearly_lan.html#incart_story_package
He made the right call. He knew what he was getting into: Ultimately, the standout from Bossier City, La., chose the Bayou Bengals over fellow finalists Auburn and Ohio State on July 18, 2013. The decision came two days after fellow quarterback Sean White announced his pledge to Auburn. "The reason I made that decision is I like the competition at quarterback at LSU," Harris said after his decision. "I get the opportunity to go in December and compete as a freshman to start as a freshman... When I went to LSU on May 26, it was just a different vibe."
When is the last time a true freshman started at qb this early in the season, and has one ever started their first game as the opening game in their true freshman season?
I almost married Cindy Crawford, ...........but she said no. 100's of top notch recruits almost go somewhere other than the school they sign with every year.
Just looked up a few box scores on the lsusports site from Jamie Howard's true freshman year. They were frickin hand-written and made me feel ancient. It appears that Howard's first start was the 4th game and he struggled bad in a home loss to Colorado St. His 1st SEC road start was a couple of weeks later as he threw for 300+ at the Swamp. The Tigers lost by only a TD to a good Gators team. I watched that Spurrier special recently and think that was the initial Fun N Gun squad that put the ole ball coach on the map.
