I don't see why this is so farfetched. LSU fans, ask yourself a question. Isn't Arkansas one of the four games you look at every year as a potential loss? And, Nutt does this in a state that is difficult to recruit in, with less talent than LSU has. The guy is a good coach. I am surprised you don't think so. I think people are disappointed because he is not a sexy name and his team had a down season as expected. He would probably not be my first choice, but he is solid. If he can do this at Arkansas: 1998 9-3 Citrus Bowl (Capital One Bowl) 1999 8-4 Cotton Bowl 2000 6-6 Las Vegas Bowl 2001 7-5 Cotton Bowl 2002 9-5 Music City Bowl 2003 9-4 Independence Bowl 2004 5-6 Since Nutt arrived in Fayetteville in 1998, the Razorbacks have enjoyed unparalleled success among SEC Western Division members. Arkansas has won more games (48) than any other school in the Western Division in that span, and the Hogs are the only SEC West team to advance to six straight bowl games. In addition, Arkansas boasts the most home wins (34) of any SEC team in the past six seasons as well as the league’s longest active regular season non-conference winning streak (21). Add to that a pair of SEC Western Division titles and six consecutive winning regular seasons and you have a good idea of just some of the prosperity Razorback fans have enjoyed under Nutt. Success is nothing new to the Little Rock native. Nutt has compiled a career record of 84-49 (.632) in 11 seasons as a head coach including stops at Murray State, Boise State and Arkansas. He has compiled a 48-27 (.640) mark as the Razorbacks’ head coach. When you consider that Arkansas had earned only two bowl berths in the eight seasons prior to Nutt’s arrival, the postseason string is even more impressive. imagine what he could do at LSU.
simple. cite all the numbers you wish. Nutt is a winning coach, no doubt but he does not run a clean program given the character and quality of personnel he puts on the field. LSU does not want any part of that again. We've seen what it can do to a program. www.inkblotter-u.com who wants a coach when his own fanbase wants him gone. that's funny. we want pig leftovers. sooie.
If this is true, then everybody-repeat after me: Romeo Crennel, Romeo Crennel, Romeo Crennel... :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
How does a coach at an SEC school have a losing record vs. the SEC and keep his job???? I mean, crap...even John Bra...oh wait, nm.
Just read through these threads. Hopefully everyone realizes what Skip Bertman is doing is making intial contacts with candidates to guage the interest in the job. Just my guess, but I reasonably certain no candidate has been offered the job. In the preliminary talks, first impressions are made along with a fishing expedition to determine what it might take to get the candidate to come. Once Skip has spoken with several candidates, then he will formally request one or two of them to come to Baton Rouge to have a sit down to discuss the details before he makes his final determination. Think about it. This is all a process to hire someone. If Saban made suggestions, Skip is going to follow through. Does that mean he is going to hire that person, no. At least not yet. All of you know what a cagey fox Skip Bertman is. He's gonna check everyone out before he gets down to brass tacks. That, in my opinion, is great. Let the process work. Now, I'm having a blast reading about all the rumors and what not. This is fun. Five years we couldn't be this informed (even if it is rumors). But I have no doubt Skip will get the best fit. And regardless of what you think of Houston Nutt, the man can flat out Coach on game day. But there will be others to read about too.
