OMG!!! And all along he said he loved Cincy and his sycophantic fans said he loved Cincy. How could this happen? Answer: They are all whores
A contract should be binding on both parties, with penalties for breaking it. If a coach under contract leaves a school, fine. Let him sit out a year just as one of his players would be required to do. Also, the current school should be compensated in cash by the coach's new school for the balance due on the contract. It would bring some sanity to what has happened. Most of these guys should be back in high school teaching P.E., anyway.
...and the next time LSU goes looking for a coach, they'll have to sit with a promoted guy currently on the staff. Better yet, schools will get stuck with bad coaches for the length of their contract. Eventually you'll see the kind of bahviour that we see with athletes who have been given gauranteed money: poor performance because there's no incentive for good peerformance if the school can't break the contract. Your idea is horrible on so many levels.
