I've have avoided commenting on this thread, but here's how I see it... It's not the "church" speaking for some of us, but our faith in God being shown through our own, personal convictions that we have concluded for ourselves. If we were to lick our finger and stick it to the wind to see who we follow, surely it would be the easier decision - the way of the world.

The way liberals develope their thoughts is by letting their feelings dictate what they believe, whether it is peer-pressure to get votes or feeling sorry for people. I don't like Republicans or Democrats, especially...

It's not always about civil rights, but about morality. Despite the negative things (racism, segregation, etc.) of the 40s and 50s, I wish we were, to a degree, close to the moral spectrum of those days. Now, we can't spank, homosexuality is not only the norm but is funny and "cute," abortion is okay, premarital sex and shacking up is looked at as normal, and feeling sorry for everyone is what drives politics... I'm sick of it.

Here in California, if I voice my beliefs, I'm looked at like an idiot, even if I voice it in a mannerly fashion. Thank God I'm moving back to Louisiana in December...

I know I'll get flamed, but I couldn't let the "church" statement go. My former boss was a lesbian and one of the greatest people I've ever met, but I voiced my beliefs in her lifestyle while never disrespecting her or her decision. She even got married in San Fransisco when they were doing all that stuff, so you can imagine what I was thinkin'... :hihi:

by saying "how liberals think" it's the same thing as Jay's church comment. he's basically saying the church tells conservatives what to think and you're saying liberals always 100% follow their feelings.
everyone is is an individual and has their own thought and belief processes (i hope).

as someone who tries to stay objective i can see where you're both coming from, but both statements are both gross generalizations. :)

Seems to be the case rather frequently - the most anti-gay people in the country have scandals & turn out to be gay themselves.

He at least admitted to illegal drug usage.
"The Rev. Ted Haggard, who resigned as president of the National Association of Evangelicals over a sex scandal, acknowledged today commiting some "indiscretions," including the purchase of methamphetamines, but denied having a three-year sexual relationship with his accuser."

As long as another man doesn't try to kiss or hump me, I have no problem with what he chooses to do behind closed doors.

I personally think that some make the choice and some are born that way. If hermaphrodites can be born from a man and woman, then why can't a man be born with with opposite urges thant he rest of us. Think about it, hermaphrodites are born with both genitalia, meaning something went wrong along the way. So if genitalia can be mixed, why can't our internal urges? I think it's a matter of too much or lack of estrogen or testosterone. Just my two cents.
