I don't like talking like Saban is gone already, but I like Hawkins if anybody.

If the powers at Florida have any brains, which is definitely up for debate, they will hire Petrino.

Butch Davis was the reason Miami was unbeatable a few years ago. Coker just kinda rode the wave.

Miami had serious problems when Butch showed up. Bertman is right...he cleaned them up pretty good. however, it being miami...i dont think anybody can totally clean that place up.

Saban isnt going any where, but it is nice to have that kind of "back up"

BARRING an unforeseen turnaround by the 3-7 Browns, the power trip of coach Butch Davis is about to come to an end. Like Steve Spurrier, expect Davis to resurface in college football, where he belongs, once Cleveland owner Randy Lerner fires him.

When he left the University of Miami, a program he resurrected from the ashes of probation, and was hired by the Browns to replace Chris Palmer, Davis became a power-hungry control freak.

Davis immediately placed assistant coaches off limits to the media. Later, he kicked reporters out of practice. Eventually, he would run off everyone in the organization who disagreed with him or whom he perceived to be a threat.

Among those Davis turned his back on were Ron Wolf, the former Green Bay general manager hired by former Browns president Carmen Policy as a team consultant, and Lal Heneghan, the long-time contract negotiator who recommended, among other things, against giving free agent quarterback Jeff Garcia a $25-million deal.

In his fourth year since replacing Palmer, Davis has a 24-35 record, including 8-18 over the last two seasons. He has a habit of blaming everyone but himself, especially the previous regime. But the new regime is growing tired of Davis' act.

On the one hand, I HATE hearing coaches talk about wanting Saban's job as though he's already left. On the other hand, it shows you where this program is that NFL coaches are interested. I think Saban showed the world what can be done at LSU. Just keep all the talent in State and you've got an amazing jump on the competition.
